Three 6 Mafia is an American hip hop group from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1991. Emerging as a horror-themed underground hip hop group, they would eventually go on to enjoy mainstream success. The group's 1995 debut album ''Mystic Stylez'' would go on to become an influential cult classic. They have released music on independent labels such as Prophet Entertainment and their own Hypnotize Minds label, as well as Relativity, Loud, and Columbia Records. Two of their albums are RIAA-certified platinum: '' When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1'' (2000) and ''Most Known Unknown'' (2005), the latter featured their hit single " Stay Fly". In 2006 the group won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 78th Academy Awards for their song " It's Hard out Here for a Pimp" from the film ''Hustle & Flow''. Paul Duane Beauregard (born January 12, 1977), better known by his stage name DJ Paul, is an American DJ, record producer, and rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. He is a founding member of hip hop group Three 6 Mafia and uncle of the late rapper Lord Infamous. He is also a part owner of FaZe Clan. DJ Paul started his career in the late 1980s as a DJ and released a number of solo tapes, as well as three collaboration albums with Lord Infamous as The Serial Killaz. Juicy J was introduced and the three founded the group Three 6 Mafia, going on to achieve national success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Patrick Earl Houston (born February 8, 1973), better known by his stage name Project Pat, is an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. He is the older brother of Juicy J, the co-founder of Three 6 Mafia. Patrick Dhane Lanshaw (born October 6, 1982), better known by his stage name Lil Wyte, is an American rapper. He is a member of the rap collective Hypnotize Minds and owner of the independent label Wyte Music. Early life Growing up in Frayser, Memphis, Frayser, Lil Wyte discovered his rapping talent at a young age as he could rap Sir Mix-a-Lot's entire song "Baby Got Back" completely. La Chat
Chastity Daniels (born March 21, 1978), known professionally as La Chat, is an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee. She is best known for her association with the Hypnotize Minds record label. She was one of the two female members of Memphis-based hip hop group, Three 6 Mafia, alongside Gangsta Boo. Career In 2001, La Chat made a guest appearance on the hit Project Pat song, ''Chickenhead'', which would go on to receive Gold record status. The Kaze is an American hip hop group from Memphis, Tennessee. It started its activities in the year 1990 to 2000 with MC Mack, Lil Corb and Project Pat, the group underwent several changes when Lil Corb's death was announced in 2013. History The group began their activities in the early 1990s in Memphis, consisting of Project Pat, Lil Corb and Scan Man.
