DeKalb Genetics Corporation (often stylized DEKALB; formerly DeKalb Agricultural Association and DEKALB AgResearch) was a diversified company headquartered in DeKalb, Illinois that marketed agricultural seeds and other products. The company was best known for its leading role in the development of hybrid corn and for its "winged ear" logo. DeKalb Genetics Corporation was purchased by the Monsanto Company in 1998 and has been owned since 2017 by Bayer. DeKalb Avenue (BMT Fourth Avenue Line)
The DeKalb Avenue station is a station on the BMT Brighton Line and BMT Fourth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of DeKalb and Flatbush Avenues in Downtown Brooklyn. It is served by the Q and R trains at all times, the B train on weekdays, and the D and N trains during late nights. During rush hours only, a few W train trips also serve this station. The station has six tracks and two island platforms. The two innermost tracks are used by Fourth Avenue express trains, which skip the station, while the four outer tracks are used by Brighton Line and Fourth Avenue local trains. "Waldo" (1942) is a short story by American writer Robert A. Heinlein, originally published in ''Astounding Magazine'' in August 1942 under the pseudonym Anson MacDonald. USS ''Baron DeKalb'' was a gunboat constructed for the Union Navy by James B. Eads during the American Civil War. USS ''Baron DeKalb'', named after General Baron DeKalb of Hüttendorf near Erlangen, in present-day Bavaria, was originally named ''Saint Louis'', and was one of seven City-class ironclads built at Carondelet, Missouri and Mound City, Illinois, for the Western Gunboat Flotilla.
