DAMs - The Lethal Water Bombs
''Dams: The Lethal Water Bombs'' is a short documentary film about the Mullaperiyar Dam, and the possible natural disaster inherent in the structure. This 21-minute documentary was produced by Aries Telecasting Private Ltd., and directed by Sohan Roy. Plot The Banqiao Dam in China, with its 492 million cubic meters of water, has a similar capacity to the Mullaperiyar Dam, with 443 million cubic meters. When it was destroyed by torrential rains in 1975, it claimed the lives of 250,000 people. This documentary is based on the possibility of a similar disaster happening to the Mullaperiyar Dam in India. Sohan Roy
Sohan Roy is an Indian entrepreneur and film director and producer based at Sharjah. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Aries Group of Companies, and a Naval Architect. Early life and career Sohan Roy started his career as a Marine engineer, and later worked as a marine surveyor at several companies. He started Aries Marine & Engineering Services in 1998, Headquartered in Sharjah, UAE. Mullaperiyar Dam
Mullaperiyar Dam , is a masonry gravity dam on the Periyar River in the Indian state of Kerala It is located above the sea level, on the Cardamom Hills of the Western Ghats in Thekkady, Idukki District of Kerala, India. It was constructed between 1887 and 1895 by John Pennycuick and also reached in an agreement to divert water eastwards to the Madras Presidency area (present-day Tamil Nadu). The Banqiao Reservoir Dam () is a dam on the River Ru (), a tributary of the Hong River in Zhumadian City, Henan province, China. The Banqiao dam and Shimantan Reservoir Dam () are among 62 dams in Zhumadian that failed catastrophically in 1975 during Typhoon Nina. The dam was subsequently rebuilt.
