D502 (Croatia)
D502 is a state road connecting D27 state road and the D424 expressway Tromilja interchange to a number of settlements in Zadar hinterland and A1 motorway Zadar 2 interchange (via D424). The road is long. D502 is a connecting route providing a bypass of A1 motorway Maslenica Bridge and D8 state road Maslenica Bridge in case of strong winds. Originally the road extended to Zadar itself, however in April 2010, the road was shortened in order to cancel the existing intersection with the Zadar Airport runway. The intersection used to be guarded by traffic signs and barriers similar to the ones found near at-grade railroad crossings. Novigrad, Zadar County
Novigrad is a village and municipality in Croatia in the Zadar County. According to the 2011 census, there were 2,375 inhabitants, absolute majority of which were Croats. History In 1386, the Hungarian and Croatian sovereign Mary and her mother, Elizabeth of Bosnia, were imprisoned in Novigrad. Elizabeth was strangled in Novigrad in 1387 but Mary was liberated. It was part of Republic of Venice in 1409. Venetian rule in Novigrad briefly interrupted by Ottoman occupation between 1646 and 1647 during Cretan War. Attractions The historic little town on the southern side of the Novigrad sea is situated in a narrow bay. Benkovac
Benkovac () is a town in the interior of Zadar County, Croatia. Geography Benkovac is located where the plain of Ravni Kotari and the karstic plateau of Bukovica meet, 20 km from the town of Biograd na Moru and 30 km from Zadar. The Zagreb-Split motorway and Zadar-Knin railway pass through the town. It borders the municipalities of Novigrad, Posedarje, Obrovac, Lišane Ostrovičke, Kistanje and Stankovci. Demography According to the 2011 census, the municipality had 11,026 inhabitants of which 13.8% were from a Serbian descent and 84.9% were Croatian.
