D4 Motorway (Slovakia)
D4 is a motorway in southwestern Slovakia. The planned highway is commonly referred to as the Bratislava bypass. For decades, there was only a short stretch from Austrian border at Jarovce to the junction with D2 (part of the former D61), construction of which started in 1996 and was opened in 1998. Construction of various other parts started in the late 2010s, with several openings throughout 2020 and 2021. The extension to the motorway D1 between Bratislava and Senec is underway, in order to connect the southern bypass of Bratislava to the country's main traffic artery. Bratislava Region
The Bratislava Region ( sk, Bratislavský kraj, , german: Pressburger/Bratislavaer Landschaftsverband (until 1919), hu, Pozsonyi kerület) is one of the administrative regions of Slovakia. Its capital is Bratislava. The region was first established in 1923 and its present borders exist from 1996. Ost Autobahn
The (Austrian) Ost Autobahn A4 or "Eastern Motorway" is part of the European route E60 and goes from Vienna to the town of Nickelsdorf, on the Hungarian border. The road begins at the A23 at the Prater junction in Vienna, travels through Simmering, Schwechat, Vienna International Airport, Fischamend, Bruck an der Leitha, Parndorf, Weiden am See and Mönchhof to the border town of Nickelsdorf. Crossing the border into Hegyeshalom, the road becomes the Hungarian M1 motorway which then continues on to Budapest. The road is 66 km long. Nordost Autobahn
The Nordost Autobahn A6 or Northeastern motorway is a motorway in eastern Austria and it connects Slovakia to the Austrian motorway system. It begins at A4 junction near Bruckneudorf, going east, bypassing Potzneusiedl, crossing the Leitha river by a bridge, then beyond Gattendorf copying existing national road heading northeast and near Kittsee turning east to the Slovak border, where border crossing already exists since 1998. Construction started in November 2004 and lasted until November 2007. Senec, Slovakia
Senec ( hu, Szenc, ) is a town in the Bratislava Region of south-western Slovakia. The town is the administrative seat of the Senec District and its largest municipality. In 2022 it had a population of over 20,000. The town is a summer tourism and recreation center well known for its summer resort ''Sunny Lakes'' () and its proximity to Bratislava, the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Motorway D61
The Motorway D61 () was a motorway in Slovakia, which was merged with the Motorway D1 in 1999. Its route was: Bratislava ( D2) - Trnava ( R1), before 1999 D65) - Piešťany - Trenčín (junction with old D1). Most of the D61 part of new D1 highway is still marked with old kilometres (except in some parts of Bratislava). Sections of the motorways The motorway was first mentioned in plans in 1963 and its construction started in 1972 by constructing Bratislava - Senec section.
