D. P. De Silva
Dandeniya Premachandra de Silva (also known as D. P. de Silva) is a former Ceylonese cricketer. He was a middle order batsman who represented Ceylon in first-class cricket from 1962 to 1968. He was educated at Mahinda College, Galle, where he started his cricket career. He toured India in 1964-65 with the Ceylon team, playing in one of the three unofficial Tests. His highest first-class score was 60 when he opened the batting and top-scored for the Ceylon Board President's XI against Hyderabad Blues in 1966–67. He was a heavy scorer in domestic cricket in Ceylon. In a match in the Government Services league in July 1959 he scored 276 out of a team total of 925. In 1967–68, playing for Nomads in the P Sara Trophy, he set a record for the highest run aggregate for a season. Premachandra is the second of four ''Dandeniya de Silva'' brothers. Somachandra De Silva
Dandeniyage Somachandra de Silva also known as D. S. de Silva (born 11 June 1942) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, who played Test and One Day International cricket in the 1970s and 1980s. He is the first ODI cap for Sri Lanka, second test cap for Sri Lanka and was part of Sri Lanka's first test team. He bowled leg spin, and on the tour of Pakistan in 1982 he became the first Sri Lankan bowler to take five wickets in a Test innings. He was also the oldest player to lead Sri Lanka in test cricket during a test tour to New Zealand in 1983. He is also regarded as the longest serving spinner to have played for Sri Lanka and considered one of the finest leg spinners to have emerged from Sri Lanka. Premier Trophy
The Major League Tournament (formerly known as the Premier Trophy) is the main domestic first-class cricket competition in Sri Lanka. It was established in 1938 and has existed under a number of different names. Matches before the 1988–89 season are not considered first-class. Relaunched as the Lakspray Trophy in 1988–89, it was renamed as the P. Saravanamuttu Trophy in 1990–91 and as the Premier Championship in 1998–99. There was a change of format in 2015–16 when it became the Premier League Tournament which was split into Tiers A and B the following year. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is the governing body for cricket in Sri Lanka. It was first registered with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Sports (Sri Lanka), Ministry of Sports as the Board of Cricket for Sri Lanka (BCCSL) on 30 June 1975 as a national sports body. Nomads Sports Club
Nomads Sports Club is a former first-class cricket team in Sri Lanka. Nomads are one of the oldest Sri Lankan cricket teams. They won the P Sara Trophy in 1964-65 and 1967-68 in the days before the competition had first-class status. They competed in the first-class competition in 1988-89 and 1994-95. Of their 12 matches they won one, lost five and drew six. They played their home matches at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo. They continue to compete at sub-first-class levels. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs.
