D. P. Atapattu
Don Peter Atapattu (17 September 1899 – 14 December 1976), popularly known as D. P. Atapattu, was Sri Lankan lawyer and politician. He was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Cabinet Minister of State and a Member of Parliament in Sri Lanka. Born at Nakulugamuwa Walauwa, Nakulugamuwa; he received his secondary education at St Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia and Ananda College, Colombo. Thereafter he qualified as a proctor from the Ceylon Law College and began a legal practice in Tangalle. He represented the United National Party from the Beliatta electorate in Hambantota district at six general parliamentary elections held between 1947 and 1965. He won in March 1960 and 1965, while his long-standing rival, D. A. Hambantota ( si, හම්බන්තොට, ta, அம்பாந்தோட்டை) is the main town in Hambantota District, Southern Province, Sri LankaThe prominent Malays (මැලේ) most part of the population is to be partly descended from seafarers from the Malay Archipelago (java) who travelled through the Magampura port, and over time settled down. Ranjith Kanishka Parakrama Atapattu (29 April 1933 – 8 January 2018) was a Sri Lankan physician and politician. Biography Ranjith Kanishka Parakrama Atapattu was born 29 April 1933 in Tangalle, the son of Don Peter (Member of Parliament for Beliatta and Parliamentary Secretary to the Cabinet Minister of State). He was educated at Royal College Colombo and the University of Ceylon, between 1954 and 1960, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Atapattu was employed as Medical Officer between 1960 and 1966, before establishing his own general medical practice. Atapattu was first elected to parliament at the 8th parliamentary elections in July 1977, representing the United National Party in the Beliatta electorate, where he defeated the sitting member, Mahinda Rajapaksa, by over 6,000 votes. Dudley Senanayake
Dudley Shelton Senanayake ( Sinhala: ඩඩ්ලි ශෙල්ටන් සේනානායක: ta, டட்லி சேனநாயக்கா; 19 June 1911 – 13 April 1973), was a Sri Lankan statesman who served as Prime Minister of Ceylon from 1952 to 1953 (first term as the second prime minister of Ceylon), in 1960 (second term) and from 1965 to 1970 (third term) and Leader of the Opposition from 1960 to 1964. Senanayake's tenures as prime minister were associated with democratic socialist policies focused on agricultural and educational reforms with a pro-western alignment. Born to a political family, he was the eldest son of D. S. Senanayake who lead the independence movement which gained self-rule to Ceylon in 1948 with D. S.
