is a Japanese video on demand Over-the-top media service, over-the-top Streaming media, streaming service operated by NTT Docomo. From its establishment in 2011 until 2022, it was owned 70% by Avex Inc., Avex. It operated as a Subscription business model, subscription video on demand (SVOD) service under the name from 2011 to 2013, from 2013 to 2015, and dTV from 2015 to 2023, before becoming partially an Online advertising, ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) service. In 2016, it had the largest market share of 24.1% in Japan, but in 2022, its share had decreased to 4.2%. In addition to Lemino, Docomo operates a sister service called d-anime Store, which is a SVOD service specializing in anime content. It has 2.5 million subscribers. An over-the-top (OTT) media service is a media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet. OTT bypasses cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms: the types of companies that traditionally act as controllers or distributors of such content. It has also been used to describe no-carrier cellphones, for which all communications are charged as data, avoiding monopolistic competition, or apps for phones that transmit data in this manner, including both those that replace other call methods and those that update software.
