D. J. Kidby
David "D. J." Kidby (born March 24, 1987) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. Curling career Kidby had a successful junior career which involved winning two provincial junior titles, a national and a world junior championship. Kidby threw second stones for the Kyle George rink in 2005, and they would win the 2005 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and the 2005 World Junior Curling Championships on top of their provincial junior title. Kidby won a second junior title in 2008 throwing second stones for Brennen Jones. That team lost in a tie-breaker at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. After juniors, Kidby moved to Alberta to play lead for the Chris Schille rink out of Edmonton. In 2010, Kidby and Schille joined the Don Walchuk rink with Kidby throwing second stones. The SaskTel Tankard is the Saskatchewan provincial championship for men's curling. The tournament is run by CURLSASK, the provincial curling association. The winner represents Team Saskatchewan at the Tim Hortons Brier. It is also known as the SaskTel Provincial Men's Championship. Kevin Koe
Kevin Koe ( ; born January 11, 1975) is a Canadian curler. Koe is a two-time World champion and four-time Canadian champion. He was the skip of the Canadian men's team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Originally from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, he now resides in Calgary, Alberta and curls out of The Glencoe Club. He learned to curl at the age of six in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Career Junior career After several trips to the territorial junior men's curling championships, Koe finally won in 1994. This earned him the right to skip the Northwest Territories/Yukon team at the 1994 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The 2012 Canadian Open of Curling was held from December 12 to 16 at Prospera Place in Kelowna, British Columbia as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. 2011 BDO Canadian Open Of Curling (January)
The 2011 BDO Canadian Open of Curling was held from January 26–30 at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario. This event was the third men's Grand Slam event in the 2010-11 curling season. The purse for this event was CAD$100,000. 18 men's teams will be playing for eight quarterfinal spots in a round-robin competition. The competition was marked by an interesting turn of events when the Thomas Ulsrud rink failed to win a game against Peter Corner. Team Ulsrud's loss created an eight-way tie in 2–3 win–loss records, prompting a draw shot challenge and the scheduling of two tiebreakers. Team Ulsrud, as well as Team Corner, Team Middaugh, and Team Higgs, failed to advance in the draw shot challenge, leaving Team Epping, Team Fowler, Team Bice and Team Walchuk to participate in the tiebreakers. 2009 Players' Championships
The 2009 Grey Power Players' Championship was the last Grand Slam event of both the World Curling Tour and Women's World Curling Tour for the 2008-09 season. This was the seventeenth time the event has taken place, and the fourth time since it was switched to joint men's/women's format. The event was held in Grande Prairie, Alberta April 14-19. Since the event was a part of the Olympic qualifying process in Canada, only Canadian teams were invited. The total purse for each event is $100,000. Grand Slam (curling)
The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery.
