D.C. McKay Stakes
The John Hawkes Stakes registered as the D. C. McKay Stakes is a South Australian Jockey Club Group 3 Thoroughbred horse race for horses aged three years old and over, run as a quality handicap over a distance of 1100 metres at Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide, Australia during the SAJC Autumn Carnival. Total prize money for the race is A$127,250. History The race is named in honour of former SAJC committeeman (elected originally in 1950) and horse owner Don McKay. The race is considered a major prep lead up race for the Group 1 The Goodwood later in the Autumn Carnival. The following horses have won the D. C. I Am Invincible (foaled 21 September 2004) is a stakes winning Australian bred thoroughbred racehorse that is most notable for his success as a stallion, having sired more than 60 individual stakes winners. Background I Am Invincible was purchased at the 2006 Inglis NSW Classic Twilight Session by his original trainer Toby Edmonds for owners Ray & Brett Gall for the amount of A$62,500. Racing career I Am Invincible won his debut race by five lengths on the 21 February 2007 at Warwick Farm. The performance convinced trainer Toby Edmonds to set the horse towards the Golden Slipper. He next lined up in the Kindergarten Stakes. Drawn near the outside in a field of 14, the horse again showed brilliant speed to cross and sit in second place before finishing a game third to the eventual Golden Slipper winner Forensics. Meloxicam
Meloxicam, sold under the brand name Mobic among others, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation in rheumatic diseases and osteoarthritis. Behemoth (foaled 2015) is a multiple Group 1 winning Australian bred thoroughbred racehorse. Background Behemoth was initially sold at the 2016 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale for A$120,000. At the 2017 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, Behemoth was purchased by his current owners, Grand Syndicates for just $6,000. Racing career 2017/18: two-year-old season Behemoth made his race debut at Balaklava on the 20 June 2018, where he finished in fifth position. The Goodwood is a South Australian Jockey Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for three years old and older, run at set weights with penalties, over a distance of 1200 metres at Morphettville Racecourse, Adelaide, South Australia in the SAJC Autumn Carnival. History In 2007 the race conditions were set weights and penalties after previously being a handicap race throughout its 121-year history and was renamed The Goodwood from Goodwood Handicap.
