César E. Trasobares
César E. Trasobares (born 1949 in Holguín, Cuba), is a Cuban-American artist working primarily in collage, installation, and performance art. Early life and Career Trasobares migrated from Cuba to the United States in 1965. From 1965 to 1996 he resided in Mexico and Miami. Since 1996 he has resided in New York City. In 1970 he acquired an Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade Community College, in Miami, Florida. He later received a BA from Florida Atlantic University, Florida. Cesar Trasobares served in curatorial and cultural leardership roles including coordinator position for the Estate Project for Artists with AIDS, in New York; and the directorship for the Metro-Dade's Art in Public Places Program, in South Florida. Holguín
Holguín () is a municipality and city in Cuba, and the capital of Province of Holguín. After Havana, Santiago de Cuba, and Camagüey, it is the fourth largest city in Cuba. History Before Columbus, the Taino people settled in huts made from royal palm in the Holguin area later urbanized by the Spanish; their artifacts are shown at the local Holguin La Periquera museum. The settlement was founded in 1523 on land donated by Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar to Captain Francisco García Holguín, a Spanish military officer. Holguin added his maternal surname to the name of the town, giving it the name San Isidoro de Holguín. Prior to 1976, Holguín was located in the province of Oriente. Bass Museum
The Bass Museum of Art is a contemporary art museum located in Miami Beach, Florida. The Bass Museum of Art was founded in 1963 and opened in 1964. History Early years John Bass (1891-1978) and Johanna Redlich (m. Feb. 21, 1921) were Jewish-immigrants from Vienna, Austria who resided in Miami Beach. As President of the Fajardo Sugar Company of Puerto Rico, John Bass was also an amateur journalist, artist (namely painting and etching) and composer of published music. Mr. Bass collected both fine art and cultural artifacts, including a sizeable manuscript collection that now lives in the Carnegie Hall Archives.
