The Czech Republic participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "I Stand" written by Christian Schneider, Sara Biglert and Aidan O'Connor. The song was performed by Gabriela Gunčíková, who was internally selected by the Czech broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) to represent the nation at the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Gunčíková and the song "I Stand" were announced as the Czech entry on 10 March 2016. The song was presented to the public on 11 March 2016. Gabriela Gunčíková
Gabriela Gunčíková (; born 27 June 1993), also known as Gabriela Gun, is a Czech singer. Her singing voice has been described as a cross between Sheryl Crow and Ann Wilson from the band, Heart. She was the runner-up of the second season of ''Česko Slovenská SuperStar'' and won the New Artist award at the 2011 Český slavík awards. Gunčíková was a touring vocalist of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra from 2014 until 2015. She represented the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm with " I Stand". In the Eurovision Gunčíková scored the highest place ever achieved by a Representative from The Czech Republic, being the first ever entry to make it to the Grand Final. Primal Fear (band)
Primal Fear is a German power metal band formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers (vocals, ex-Gamma Ray) and Mat Sinner (bass and vocals, Sinner). Sinner and Scheepers formed the band after Scheepers was not hired as Rob Halford's replacement in Judas Priest. History Primal Fear was founded in October 1997 by singer Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner. Scheepers and Sinner have been constants in the heavy metal scene before the band was founded. Ralf Scheepers sang in the bands Tyran Pace, F.B.I. and the internationally successful band Gamma Ray. ČT1 (ČT Jedna, Česká televize 1, "''Jednička''") is the Czech public television channel, operated by Česká televize. ČT1 is a general purpose channel, showing family-oriented television, Czech movies, children's programming, news and documentaries. History ČST ( cs, Československá televize, sk, Československá televízia) starts experimental broadcasting throughout Czechoslovakia on 1 May 1953 from its Prague Studio. Its first regular broadcast begin on 25 February 1954. In 1970, the ČST was renamed to ČST1 and in 1975 the channel transitioned from black-and-white to colour. ČT2 (ČT Dva, Česká televize 2, "''Dvojka''") is Czech public television channel, operated by Česká televize. ČT2 broadcasts documentaries nature-oriented shows, frequently showing foreign films in the original versions with Czech subtitles, including many English-language movies and features some of the important sports events (i.e. Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup or UEFA European Football Championship). Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Alter Ego" written by Minus One and Thomas G:son. OGAE
The (OGAE) () is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation, consisting of 42 Eurovision Song Contest fan clubs from across Europe and beyond. It was founded in 1984 in Savonlinna, Finland by Jaripekka Koikkalainen. Four non-profit competitions are organised by the OGAE every year to promote national popular music to Eurovision fans around the world. The organisation also works frequently in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and national broadcasters from the participating countries in order to help promote the Eurovision Song Contest.
