Cyrus A. Ansary
Cyrus A. Ansary (born 1934) is an American lawyer and philanthropist. Early life and education Ansary, an Iranian American, was born in Tehran, Iran and is the brother of Hushang Ansary. He visited Mt. Vernon, New York in 1950 while attending Alborz High School. Ansary later earned a BS in Economics from American University, a law degree from Columbia and a Certificate in French Civilization from the University of Paris. Kermit Washington
Kermit Alan Washington (born September 17, 1951) is an American former professional basketball player. Washington is best remembered for punching opposing player Rudy Tomjanovich during an on-court fight in 1977. Washington was not a highly-coveted player coming out of high school. He averaged four points per game during his senior season at Coolidge Senior High School. He improved rapidly once at American University, and became one of only seven players in NCAA history to average 20 points and 20 rebounds throughout the course of his career. A big defensive forward, Washington was known for his ability to gather rebounds. He averaged 9.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in ten National Basketball Association (NBA) seasons and played in the All-Star Game once. Nina Ansary ( fa, نینا انصاری ) (born 1966, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian–American historian and author best known for her work on women's equity in Iran. Ansary's research has notably countered conventional assumptions of the progress of women in Iran while continuing to advocate for full emancipation. In 2015, ''Women's eNews'' recognized Ansary as one of "21 leaders of the 21st century" and in 2019 she was honored with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
