Cyril Jackson Senior Campus is an Independent Public senior secondary school in Bassendean, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It serves approximately 400 compulsory age and mature age students from Year 11 to Year 12. Overview The surrounding area saw a large growth in population in the 1950s with the creation of a public housing estate in Ashfield. The school was established in 1961 or 1962 as a standard public secondary school, but only officially opened in 1964. It was named Cyril Jackson Senior High School, after Cyril Jackson. He was the inspector-general of schools in Western Australia in the 1890s, and inaugural chairman of the West Guildford Road Board (now known as the Town of Bassendean) from 1901 to 1903. Bassendean, Western Australia
__NOTOC__ Bassendean (once referred to as West Guildford) is a north-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the Town of Bassendean. It is also the name of the sand dune system on the Swan Coastal Plain known as the ''Bassendean Dune System''. History In 1829, the land along the Swan River was allotted to British settlers as they arrived in the newly created Swan River Colony. James Henty and his brothers were granted 2,000 acres upon which they grazed their livestock and built a mud-brick homestead. They called their property ''Stoke Farm''. In 1832, the Henty brothers sold the farm to the Colonial Secretary, Peter Broun who re-named the homestead ''Bassendean''. Ian Maxwell Britza (born 7 May 1954) is an Australian politician. He was a Liberal Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2017, representing Morley. He won the seat, despite its notional Labor margin, partly due to the preference flow from Independent candidate John D'Orazio. During the 2008–09 holiday season and again in 2011–12 Britza travelled to Texas on Parliamentary Accredited Finance to provide him with an "in-depth knowledge and understanding of policy matters" and a detailed report was given to Parliament as is required. He was accused of using public funds to pay for his wife and children to go to Texas to spend time with their mother and grandmother, but he used personal finances to do this. Governor Stirling Senior High School (abbreviated as GSSHS) is a public co-educational partially selective high day school, located in Woodbridge, a north-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is the primary criterion for domestic student entry into undergraduate courses in Australian public universities. The Town of Bassendean is a local government area in the northeastern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth, west of the industrial centre of Midland and about northeast of Perth's central business district.
