The women's cycling team pursuit at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro took place at the Rio Olympic Velodrome on 11 and 13 August. Great Britain has yet to be beaten in this event. The medals were presented by Claudia Bokel, IOC member, Germany and Mohammad Belmahi, Member of the UCI Management Committee. The Rio Olympic Velodrome, officially the Velódromo Municipal do Rio (''Rio Municipal Velodrome''), is a velodrome located in the Barra Olympic Park sports complex in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Built as a replacement for the former Barra Velodrome, the venue hosted track cycling events during the 2016 Summer Olympics, and is scheduled to host track cycling events during the 2016 Summer Paralympics. The women's team pursuit event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 2 and 3 August 2021 at the Izu Velodrome. 32 cyclists (8 teams of 4) from 8 nations competed. Background This will be the 3rd appearance of the event, which has been held at every Summer Olympics since its introduction in 2012. The reigning Olympic champions are Katie Archibald, Laura Kenny, Elinor Barker, and Joanna Rowsell Shand of Great Britain; Great Britain has won both prior Olympic events (with Kenny and Rowsell Shand on both teams). The reigning (2020) World Champions are Jennifer Valente, Chloé Dygert, Emma White, and Lily Williams of the United States. Annette Edmondson
Annette Edmondson (born 12 December 1991) is an Australian former Cycle sport, cyclist who competed on the track with Cycling Australia's High Performance Unit (HPU). She also competed on the road for the team between 2015 and 2018. Her greatest successes were the three gold medals she won at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in the omnium and team pursuit, a competition in which she also secured further silver medals in the omnium (2012) and team pursuit (2012 and 2013). Claudia Bokel (born 30 August 1973, in Ter Apel, the Netherlands) is a German épée fencer. Biography Claudia Bokel fought for the Fencing-Club Tauberbischofsheim.
