The Women's scratch race at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as part of the cycling programme, took place on 26 July 2014. Australian Annette Edmondson and Amy Cure came first respectively second – with Elinor Barker from Wales finishing third. The event was held at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, Scotland. A total of 24 competitors, including one not starting and three not finishing, from 11 nations took part of the race. Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome
The Commonwealth Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, known for sponsorship reasons as the Emirates Arena, is an indoor arena and velodrome in Dalmarnock, Glasgow, Scotland. Built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, these venues hosted the badminton and track cycling events. Situated opposite Celtic Park in the East End, Glasgow, East End of Glasgow, the complex is the headquarters of Sportscotland and Scottish Cycling. Dame Laura Rebecca Kenny, Lady Kenny ( Trott; born 24 April 1992) is a British track and road cyclist who specialises in track endurance events, specifically the team pursuit, omnium, scratch race, elimination race and madison disciplines. Fatehah Mustapa (born 12 March 1989 in Terengganu) is a retired Malaysian track cyclist. She competed in the keirin race at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she placed 15th. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, she reached the bronze medal race in the women's sprint which she lost 2–0 to Jess Varnish. She also finished 5th in the women's 500 m time trial. Georgia Williams (born 25 August 1993) is a New Zealand professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Career She took up cycling whilst attending Albany Junior High School, where testing at the school's sports academy suggested that she was suited to the sport, having previously competed in netball and water polo. She took two silver medals at the UCI Juniors Track World Championships: one in the team pursuit in 2010 and another in the individual pursuit in 2011. Williams joined the team in 2013. Joanna Katie Rowsell MBE (born 5 December 1988) is a retired English cyclist on the Great Britain Cycling Team who competed on track and road. Her greatest successes were the gold medals won in the women's team pursuit at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics as well as five World Championship titles, four in the team pursuit (2008, 2009, 2012 and 2014) plus one in the individual pursuit at the 2014 World Championships. Laura Brown is a Canadian cyclist who competes on the track and road including as a member of the Canadian team pursuit team. As a reserve, Brown was part of the Canadian team that won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the women's team pursuit. She was also part of the team that won gold at the 2011 Pan American Games in the team pursuit. She also won the points race at the Manchester round of the 2013–14 UCI Track Cycling World Cup. Brown took up cycling in 2002 after giving up competing in gymnastics due to an ongoing back injury. Melissa Hoskins (born 24 February 1991) is an Australian former track and road racing cyclist. She topped the general classification in the 2012 Tour of Chongming Island. She was a member of the Australian track cycling team pursuit team that finished in fourth place at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Hoskins announced her retirement from professional cycling on 2 May 2017.
