Curtis Fraser
Curtis Fraser (born April 4, 1982) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey centre. Playing career Fraser played as a junior of the British Columbia Hockey League with the Victoria Salsa and the Vernon Vipers, before committed to a collegiate career with the University of Alaska Fairbanks of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association where he scored 114 points in 148 games over his four-year career. Undrafted, Curtis completed his senior year placed second to Kyle Greentree in scoring with 35 points, to leave the Nanooks ranked second in all-time games played. Fraser immediately made his professional debut following college to finish the 2006–07 season in the post-season with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Centre (ice Hockey)
The centre (or center in the United States) in ice hockey is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centres have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player. Centres are ideally strong, fast skaters who are able to back-check quickly from deep in the opposing zone. Generally, centres are expected to be gifted passers more so than goal scorers, although there are exceptions - typically larger centres who position themselves directly in front of the net in order to score off rebounds. They are also expected to have exceptional "ice vision", intelligence, and creativity. Kyle Greentree
Kyle Greentree (born November 15, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. An undrafted player, he previously played two games each for the Philadelphia Flyers and Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Greentree began playing collegiate hockey for the Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks during the 2004-05 season after playing for two seasons with the Victoria Salsa in the British Columbia Hockey League. He led his team in points for all three seasons he played there and got his number retired by the club. Following his junior season, on March 14, 2007, Greentree decided to forgo his senior season and signed an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League, and are the AHL affiliates of the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins. Steven Lee Wagner (born March 6, 1984) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He most notably played with the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League (NHL) before playing abroad for Adler Mannheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career After two years in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers and Tri-City Storm Wagner went to Minnesota State University, Mankato. He played three seasons with the Mavericks, having his most successful year during the 2006–07 season when he scored 29 points in 38 games. Houston Aeros (1994–2013)
The Houston Aeros were a professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League (IHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). The team played in Houston, Texas, at The Summit (renamed Compaq Center in 1998) from 1994 until 2003 and the Toyota Center from 2003 to 2013. Kelly Cup
The Patrick J. Kelly Cup goes to the playoff champion of the ECHL. The Kelly Cup has been awarded to teams since 1997. Prior to 1997, the playoff winner was awarded the Riley Cup, named after former American Hockey League president Jack Riley. The current cup is named after Patrick J. Kelly, the league's first commissioner. The cup is loaned to the winning team for one year and is returned at the start of the following year's playoffs, although the trophy itself has been replaced three times with the first two iterations preserved in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player award is also given out as part of the Kelly Cup Championship ceremonies. American Hockey League
The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Since the 2010–11 season, every team in the league has an affiliation agreement with one NHL team. When NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL teams. Milwaukee Admirals
The Milwaukee Admirals are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). They play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States, at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Panther Arena. They are affiliated with the NHL's Nashville Predators. The team has been playing since 1970, originally as an amateur team called the Milwaukee Wings, but were renamed as the Admirals after their first season. 2007–08 ECHL Season
The 2007–08 ECHL season was the 20th season of the ECHL. Two teams suspended operations at the end of the 2006–07 season, the Long Beach Ice Dogs and the Toledo Storm. Toledo's suspension was granted after Toledo Arena Sports, Inc. acquired the Storm and requested a suspension of the team for two years in order to allow a new arena to be built in downtown Toledo to open in 2009 in time for the team to return to play. The league officially welcomed back the Mississippi Sea Wolves, who had to suspend operations for two seasons (2005–07) because of damage to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum caused by Hurricane Katrina. The Elmira Jackals also joined the ECHL after being in the United Hockey League for their previous existence.
