Curt Weiss
Curt Weiss (born 10 December 1959 in Brooklyn, New York), is an American writer, television producer, and, under the name Lewis King, musician. His writing has appeared in ''Classic Drummer'' magazine, and as author of the 2017 book ''Stranded in the Jungle: Jerry Nolan’s Wild Ride''. As a musician he has drummed with the Rockats and Beat Rodeo and with members of Holly and the Italians and the Modern Lovers. Early life and education Weiss grew up in Brooklyn, New York, until 1969 when his family moved to the Rockaway Beach area of Queens, New York, where he attended Beach Channel High School. He entered Berklee College of Music in 1977, dropping out after a semester. Career Music (Lewis King) Using the name "Lewis King," Weiss became drummer for the Anglo-American neo-Rockabilly band the Rockats in March 1981. ''American Experience'' is a television program airing on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in the United States. The program airs documentaries, many of which have won awards, about important or interesting events and people in American history. The series premiered on October 4, 1988 and was originally titled ''The American Experience'', but the article "The" was dropped during a later rebrand and image update. Elliott James Murphy (born March 16, 1949) is an American rock singer-songwriter, novelist, record producer and journalist living in Paris. Biography Elliott Murphy was born in Rockville Centre, New York, grew up in Garden City, Long Island and began playing the guitar at age twelve. His band The Rapscallions won the 1966 New York State Battle of the Bands. In 1971 he travelled to Europe and appeared in the Federico Fellini film Roma Returning to New York, in 1973 he secured a record contract with Polydor Records after being noticed by rock critic Paul Nelson. In 1988, he returned to college studies he had given up in the 1960s, and completed his bachelor's degree at Empire State College. I.R.S. Records was an American record label founded by Miles Copeland III, Jay Boberg, and Carl Grasso in 1979. MCA Records was an American record label owned by MCA Inc., which later became part of Universal Music Group. Pre-history MCA Inc., a powerful talent agency and a television production company, entered the recorded music business in 1962 with the purchase of the New York-based US Decca Records (established in 1934), including Coral Records and Brunswick Records. Joe "King" Carrasco (born December 6, 1953 as Joseph Charles Teutsch) is a Tex-Mex new wave guitarist, vocalist and songwriter currently based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Biography Joe King Carrasco, who is known as the king of Tex-Mex rock 'n' roll, mixes Nuevo Wavo rock and Latin rhythms. The Bongos were a power pop band from Hoboken, New Jersey that emerged from the New York City arts scene, primarily active in the 1980s, led by Richard Barone.
