Curling At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Mixed Doubles Tournament
The mixed doubles curling tournament of the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Gangneung Curling Centre from 8 to 13 February 2018. Eight nations competed in a round robin preliminary round, and the top four nations at the conclusion of the round robin qualified for the medal round. This was the first time mixed doubles was held at the Winter Olympics. On 18 February 2018, it was reported that bronze medallist Alexander Krushelnitskiy of the Olympic Athletes from Russia team had failed a drug test and was awaiting a test of the B sample. After the testing of the B sample that was also positive, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirmed that they were instituting formal proceedings; three days later, CAS disqualified the Olympic Athletes from Russia team and stripped them of the bronze medal, which was reawarded to the Norwegian team. Gangneung Curling Centre
Gangneung Gymnasium (강릉실내종합체육관) is a multi-purpose indoor arena, located in the coastal city of Gangneung, South Korea. It was opened in 1998 for Ice hockey at the 1999 Asian Winter Games, ice hockey at the 1999 Asian Winter Games. The seating capacity is 3,500. It is converted into ice surface when needed, while the underground floor is a permanent ice rink. It was used for the 2009 Mount Titlis World Women's Curling Championship, 2009 World Women's Curling Championships, 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games, 2017 World Junior Curling Championships, and 2017 World Wheelchair Curling Championship. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS; french: Tribunal arbitral du sport, ''TAS'') is an international body established in 1984 to settle disputes related to sport through arbitration. Matthew James Hamilton (born February 19, 1989) is an American curler from McFarland, Wisconsin. He is a World Junior Champion, World Men's bronze medalist, and Olympic gold medalist. Hamilton currently plays second for the Duluth, Minnesota-based John Shuster team. Curling career 2007–2014: Early career Hamilton played for skip Jeremy Roe at the 2007 and 2008 United States Men's National Championships, placing seventh and ninth, respectively. Rebecca Hamilton
Rebecca Lynn Hamilton (born July 12, 1990) is an American curler from McFarland, Wisconsin. She is a two-time national women's champion, a two-time national junior champion, and a two-time Olympian. At the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, she competed in mixed doubles curling with her brother, Matt, along with playing with the women's curling team. She was again on the women's curling team during the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Career Hamilton's junior career involved participating in five straight national junior championships from 2008 to 2012. Jang Hye-ji
Jang Hye-ji (born August 7, 1997) is a South Korean curler. She competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. She is also a national representative of mixed double events with Lee Ki-jeong, and is a member of the Gyeongbuk Athletic Association. Career She was born in 1997 in Uesung-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and went to the Uiseong Girls' High School, a famous curling high school. Since then she has been a national women's curling team. In February 2016, she formed Korea's first mixed doubles national team together with Lee Ki-jeong. Anastasia Konstantinovna Bryzgalova ( rus, Анастасия Константиновна Брызгалова, p=ɐnəstɐˈsʲijə brɨˈzɡaləvə; born 13 December 1992) is a Russian curler. She currently coaches the Alina Kovaleva rink from Saint Petersburg. Career She and Alexander Krushelnitskiy won the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Karlstad, Sweden. Oona Kauste (born 4 January 1988, in Espoo) is a Finnish curler from Helsinki. She is currently the skip of the Finnish National Women's team. Career Women's Kauste has represented Finland in seven European Curling Championships. She was an alternate at her first European Championships in 2009. The team, skipped by Ellen Vogt placed 8th.
