Cupa României (women's Basketball)
The Cupa României is the main single-elimination tournament, knockout competition for Romanian women's basketball teams. It was established in 1965, though it was cancelled in 1970 to 1975, 1978, 1979, 1982 to 1987, 1989 to 1994 and 1996 to 2003. ACS Sepsi SIC Sfântu Gheorghe or commonly Sepsi SIC is a women's basketball professional club based in Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania. The former club was ''Sepsi BC'', but it was dissolved in 2012 and replaced by Sepsi SIC. The club competes in the Romanian First League and for the first time in the EuroCup Women in the 2013-14 season. History At the beginning of the 2012-2013 season, the objective of the club was to bring the fans back to the arena, in order to forget the chaotic precedent season. The objective was to qualify for the championships' playoffs. This was realised, Sepsi SIC played in the playoffs but was eliminated by CSU Alba Iulia. The club also took part in the Final Four of the Romanian Cup in Alba Iulia. Finally, Sepsi SIC ended the season at the fifth place. CSM Târgoviște (basketball)
Club Sportiv Municipal Târgoviște, commonly referred to as simply CSM Târgoviște, is a Romanian women's basketball club from Târgoviște. Founded in 1991, it plays in the Liga Națională. History The club promoted to the first league in 1992. Târgoviște won its first national championship in 1995 and since then the team has won nine more championships. In 2010 it reached the Eurocup's Quarter-finals after beating MBK Ružomberok and CB Islas Canarias in the knockout stages, ending the competition after losing dramatically to Dynamo Kursk (75-57 and 55-76). The Liga Națională, formerly known as Divizia A, is the women's top-tier professional basketball league of Romania. Established in 1950, it is currently contested by eleven teams. CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca (women's basketball), Universitatea Cluj-Napoca is the Liga Națională's most successful club with fourteen titles including a ten-years winning streak between 1984 and 1994, while CSM Târgoviște (basketball), CSM Târgoviște and BC ICIM Arad, ICIM Arad have dominated the championship in subsequent years with ten and eight titles respectively.
