Cumnock Academy was a secondary school in Cumnock, East Ayrshire, Scotland. Cumnock
Cumnock (Scottish Gaelic: ''Cumnag'') is a town and former civil parish located in East Ayrshire, Scotland. The town sits at the confluence of the Glaisnock Water and the Lugar Water. There are three neighbouring housing projects which lie just outside the town boundaries, Craigens, Logan and Netherthird, with the former ironworks settlement of Lugar also just outside the town, contributing to a population of around 13,000 in the immediate locale. A new housing development, Knockroon, was granted planning permission on 9 December 2009 by East Ayrshire Council. Iona Sara Macintyre McDonald OBE (born 18 November 1954) has been Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran since 2017. McDonald was educated at Cumnock Academy and graduated from Glasgow University with a Master of Arts in 1976 and a law degree in 1978. Bill Grant (politician)
William Grant (born 14 August 1951) is a Scottish Conservative Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock UK Parliamentary constituency from June 2017 to November 2019. Early life A miner's son, Grant was raised in Rankinston in Doon Valley, East Ayrshire, and educated at Littlemill Primary in northern Rankinston and Cumnock Academy. After his education, Grant moved to Ayr and worked in the fire brigade for 31 years, retiring as a deputy commander in the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service. He served as a justice of the peace for ten years on Ayr District Court. Eric Caldow
Eric Caldow (14 May 1934 – 4 March 2019) was a Scottish professional association football, footballer, who played for Rangers F.C., Rangers, Stirling Albion F.C., Stirling Albion and Scotland national football team, Scotland. Caldow played as a Defender (association football)#Full back, full back and captained both Rangers and Scotland.
