Cumbria Women Cricket Team
The Cumbria Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English ceremonial county of Cumbria. They play their home games at various grounds across the county. In 2019, they played in Division 3 of the final season of the Women's County Championship, and have since competed in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. Cumbria have links with Lancashire, with some players playing for both sides, and they are partnered with the regional side North West Thunder. History Cumbria Women's first recorded match was against Scotland Women in 2000, which they lost by 10 wickets. The following year, Cumbria joined the Emerging Counties competition, which acted as a feeder competition for the Women's County Championship, in which they competed for three seasons before joining its successor, the County Challenge Cup. Netherfield Cricket Club
Netherfield Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Kendal, Cumbria (formerly part of Westmorland). The first recorded match on the ground was in 1893. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match in 1956, when Cumberland County Cricket Club, Cumberland played the Lancashire County Cricket Club, Lancashire Second XI. From 1956 to 2007, the ground hosted 44 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match played to date at the ground in 2007 seeing Cumberland host Norfolk County Cricket Club, Norfolk. The ground has also hosted 3 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the most recent of which saw Cumberland play Cheshire County Cricket Club, Cheshire in 2010. Mahika Gaur
Mahika Gaur (born 9 March 2006) is an English cricketer who plays for Cumbria, North West Thunder, Manchester Originals and the England cricket team. She plays as a left-arm medium bowler. She played for the United Arab Emirates between 2019 and 2022, making her Twenty20 International debut against Indonesia at the age of 12. In August 2023, she was selected in her first squad for England, whilst still a student at Sedbergh School. Domestic career In July 2022, Gaur was signed by Manchester Originals for the 2022 season of The Hundred. Prior to playing in the Hundred, she appeared for the North West Thunder Academy side, and took 3/25 in a match against the Northern Diamonds Academy on 23 July 2022. She joined Thunder's full squad during the 2023 season. She also played for Cumbria in the 2023 Women's Twenty20 Cup. It ran from April to September and saw 33 county teams and teams representing Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands compete in a series of divisions.
