Cubic Transportation Systems
Cubic Corporation is an American public transportation and defense corporation. It operates two business segments: Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) and Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions (CMPS). History Cubic Corporation was founded in 1949 by Walter J. Zable as an electronics company in San Diego, California, and began operations in 1951. Zable devised the company name as he wanted the name to reflect both engineering and precision. Its first product was a calorimetric wattmeter, a device used for measuring microwave output. It became a publicly-traded company in 1959. In 1969, the company acquired United States Elevator Corporation, a maker of freight and passenger elevators. In early September 1984, Cubic moved its corporate domicile into Delaware General Corporation Law. The move was completed on June 11, 1985. Cubic employs 6,200 people globally. Project NEXT
National Ticketing Solution (NTS) is a public transport payment system in development for New Zealand. It is contracted to American company Cubic. It is expected to start roll out in the Canterbury region in 2024 and available nationwide by 2026. It was previously known by various names such as Project NEXT, the National Ticketing Programme (NTP), the Auckland Integrated Ticketing Scheme (AITS) and Auckland Integrated Fares System (AIFS) prior to that. The aim is to achieve a nationally consistent payment system, with a choice of payment by cash, phone, credit card, debit card, or a transit card valid for the whole country. The Oyster card is a payment method for public transport in London (and certain areas around it) in England, United Kingdom. A standard Oyster card is a blue credit-card-sized stored-value contactless smart card. It is promoted by Transport for London (TfL) and can be used on travel modes across London including London Buses, London Underground, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Overground, Tramlink, some river boat services, and most National Rail services within the London fare zones.
