Cryptostegia Madagascariensis
''Cryptostegia madagascariensis'' is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is commonly known as purple rubber vine, is a woody-Perennial plant, perennial vine that is native to western and northern Madagascar. It has also been introduced to several tropical and subtropical regions by man, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It is very similar to the rubber vine (''Cryptostegia grandiflora, C. grandiflora''), which is also native to Madagascar. In their area of overlap some hybrids have been observed, which are distinguishable by intermediate flower morphology. In the 1930s a hybrid was also developed for horticultural purposes. References

Wenceslas Bojer (also Václav Bojer in Czech or Wenzel Bojer in German) (23 September 1795 in Řesanice, Bohemia, now the Czech Republic – 4 June 1856 in Port Louis, Mauritius) was a Czech naturalist, botanist and botanical illustrator. Life he was born to Simon Bojer and Barbara Staub. Career From 1813 till 1820 Bojer worked at the Imperial Museum Vienna. As a young man he was sent on expeditions to Africa and Mauritius by Franz Sieber. In 1821 he arrived at Mauritius. In 1822 the Mauritian governor Robert Townsend Farquhar sent him to Madagascar. He was accompanied by Malagasy Prince Rafaria who studied on Mauritius and James Hastie, a Scottish corporal and British envoy for King Radama I on Madagascar. Bojer explored the west coast of Madagascar before he arrived in Tananarive. In 1824 Bojer was sent to Africa as an interpreter. Joseph Decaisne
Joseph Decaisne (7 March 1807 – 8 January 1882) was a French botanist and agronomist. He became an ''aide-naturaliste'' to Adrien-Henri de Jussieu (1797-1853), who served as the chair of rural botany. It was during this time that he began to study plants brought back by various travelers like those of Victor Jacquemont (1801-1832) from Asia. Decaisne used applied research, most notably on the agronomy of the Rubia tinctorum, madder, the Yam (vegetable), yam and the ramie. He was also interested in algae. ''Cryptostegia grandiflora'', commonly known as rubber vine, is a woody-Perennial plant, perennial vine that is native to south-west Madagascar. It is also a significant weed in northern Australia, sometimes regarded as the worst weed in all of Australia.
