"Crush with Eyeliner" is a song by American rock band R.E.M., released as the fourth single from their ninth studio album, '' Monster'' (1994). Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore provides background vocals. Michael Stipe claims the song was inspired by the band New York Dolls, who, in his opinion, "knew how to exaggerate a song, to make it sound really sleazy and over the top." This was also one of the first songs that surfaced from Stipe after the writer's block that hounded him after the death of his friend, actor River Phoenix. Released in the United Kingdom on January 23, 1995, the song reached number 23 on the UK Singles Chart. 40 Watt Club
The 40 Watt Club is a music venue in Athens, Georgia. Along with CBGB, the Whisky a Go Go, and selected others, it was instrumental in launching American punk rock and new wave music. The 40 Watt Club was the primary performance space for numerous "Athens bands", including Pylon, R.E.M., Love Tractor, Dreams So Real, Guadalcanal Diary, The Primates, Modern Skirts, and others. Its DIY ethos and informality were instrumental in the fostering of punk rock and a "scene" in Athens. In more recent years, the club has been the home-base for such nationally renowned local bands as of Montreal, Reptar, Drive-By Truckers, and The Whigs. "Hello, I Love You" is a song recorded by American rock band the Doors for their 1968 album ''Waiting for the Sun''. The Doors

''Parallel'' is a video feature compiling all of R.E.M.'s ''Automatic for the People'' and '' Monster''-era promotional videos, as well as several recorded for this release alone. It was released on video on May 30, 1995, and on DVD format on August 22, 2000, both on the Warner Brothers label. The release, which runs at 70 minutes, features promotional videos to all of the band's singles from ''Automatic for the People'' and all but one from '' Monster'' ("Tongue" had not been released as a single until after this compilation). Also included are several avant-garde clips excerpted from 1995 tour films, ranging from ten seconds to two minutes, playing in between each song, as well as an A–Z of R.E.M. at the end of the feature. There are no bonus features on the DVD; however, there is an optional lyrics subtitle track. Audio on the DVD-5 is PCM Stereo. The DVD was certified "15" in the UK due to nudity in 'Nightswimming'. Adam H. Spiegel (born October 22, 1969), known professionally as Spike Jonze, is an American filmmaker, actor, musician, and photographer. His work includes commercials, film, music videos, skateboard videos and television. Jonze began his career as a teenager photographing BMX riders and skateboarders for ''Freestylin' Magazine'' and ''Transworld Skateboarding'', and co-founding the youth culture magazine ''Dirt''.
