Cross De Atapuerca
The Cross Internacional de Atapuerca is an annual cross country running competition that takes place in Atapuerca, Spain. Established in 2004, it takes place in early November and is among the first major competitions of the cross country season. In its initial years, it was usually the first permit meeting in the European Athletic Association's cross country season,Spain's Bezabeh claims second at Cross de Atapuerca; Monteiro takes bronze in women's race (2009-11-08). |
Masters Athletics
Masters athletics is a class of the sport of athletics for athletes of over 35 years of age. The events include track and field, road running and cross country running. Competitors are bracketed into five-year age groups (which promotes fair competition). For international events the first age group is 35 to 39. Men as old as 105 and women in their 100s have competed in running, jumping and throwing events. Masters athletes are sometimes known as "veterans" and the European Masters Championships, for instance, is known as "Eurovets." This and other high level events including biennial World Championships cater largely to elite-level athletes, but many masters athletes are novices to athletics and enjoy the camaraderie offered by masters competition at the local, National and International level. Simret Sultan Ghebermichael (born 20 July 1984) is an Eritrean long-distance runner who specializes in the 5000 metres and cross-country running. She was born in Mirara. She won the Cross de Atapuerca competition in Spain in 2007. Marta Domínguez
Marta Domínguez Azpeleta (born 3 November 1975) is a Spanish former runner and politician. She competes mainly in the steeplechase. She has represented Spain four times at the Olympics and has competed at the World Championships on six occasions. As a 5000m runner, Domínguez won a bronze at the 1998 European Athletics Championships and reached the global podium at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, winning the silver medal. She scored a gold medal double in 2002 by taking a 3000 metres win at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, before going on to become European champion at the 2002 European Championships. Hicham Chatt (born 18 February 1969) is a retired Moroccan long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon and cross-country running. He finished sixteenth in the long race at the 2003 World Cross Country Championships, and twelfth in 2004. For this he won a bronze medal with the Moroccan team in the team competition in 2003. In 2004 the team finished fourth. He won the Cross de Atapuerca meeting in 2006. Chatt also competed in the marathon at the 2007 World Championships without finishing the race.
