Croham (former Croydon Ward)
Croham was a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, London in the United Kingdom, covering part of the Croham Hurst and South Croydon. The ward returned three councillors every four years to Croydon Council. At the 2002 election, Maria Gatland, Michael Neal and Jason Perry were elected, as Conservative Party candidates, positions which they subsequently retained in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 elections. At the 2011 Census the population of the ward was 15,790. The London Borough of Croydon () is a London borough in south London, part of Outer London. It covers an area of . It is the southernmost borough of London. Chris Philp
Christopher Ian Brian Mynott Philp (born 6 July 1976) is a British politician serving as Minister of State for Crime, Policing and Fire since October 2022. He served as Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General in October 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Croydon South since May 2015. In August 2019, he was appointed Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid. In September 2019, he was appointed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice and in February 2020 at the Home Office. He was also briefly the Minister for London from December 2019 to February 2020. He was moved to the position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Tech and the Digital Economy by Johnson in the September 2021 reshuffle. Peter Bowness, Baron Bowness
Peter Spencer Bowness, Baron Bowness, (born 19 May 1943) is a British politician, solicitor, and life peer. Since 1996, he has been a member of the House of Lords. Early life Bowness was born on 19 May 1943. He was educated at Whitgift School, an all-boys independent school in South Croydon, London. He graduated from the University of Law, and began work as a solicitor in 1966. Legal career Bowness is a qualified solicitor and notary public. From 1970 to 2002, he was a partner at Weightman Sadler Solicitors in Purley, London Borough of Croydon. Elections to Croydon Council in London, England were held on 4 May 2002. The whole council was up for election for the first time since the 1998 election. The Labour Party managed to keep control of the council which it had done since 1994 when it took power away from the Conservative Party. Elections to Croydon Council in London, England were held on 7 May 1998. The whole council was up for election and the Labour Party stayed in overall control of the council. For the first time in a local election two polling stations were situated in supermarkets. Before the election the council had been seen as a top target for the Conservatives who only needed a small swing of 2 percent to take control. The Labour party had taken control of the council for the first time in the council's history in the previous election in 1994. The removal of mounted patrols from parks and an increase in nursery places were seen as important issues in the election.
