Crescent is a blackened death metal band from Egypt, founded in 1998. Crescent formed in 1998 as a black metal band, making it one of the oldest extreme metal bands in Egypt and the region. It was the first to perform at Wacken Open Air and many other festivals and countries. Crescent headlined numerous gigs and concerts in their homeland – Egypt, such as in El Sawy Culture Wheel, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Swiss Club, Azhar Park and many other small venues. History Founding and early days (1998) Crescent was formed in 1998 in Cairo, Egypt by Ismaeel Attallah and Amr Mokhtar. They started as a pure black metal band, inspired by Dissection, At The Gates, Death and Bolt Thrower. They released a demo in 1999 titled ''Edgar Allan Poe's "Dreamland"''. 1349 is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1997. The band's name is a reference to the year the Black Death reached Norway. History 1349 formed in 1997 and comprises several former members of the band Alvheim. Drummer Frost is also a member of Satyricon. In recognition of 1349's influences, the band performed a cover of Mayhem's "Buried by Time and Dust" on their debut album, ''Liberation''. Bloodbath is a Swedish death metal supergroup from Stockholm, formed in 1998. The band has released six full-length albums, two EPs and two DVDs depicting their performances at Wacken Open Air (in 2005) and Bloodstock Open Air (in 2010). My Dying Bride are an English doom metal band formed in Bradford. Behemoth is a Polish extreme metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They are considered to have played an important role in establishing the Polish extreme metal underground. Inferno Metal Festival is an annual extreme metal festival that takes place every year during Easter in Oslo, Norway. The festival was founded by Borknagar guitarist Jens F. Ryland in cooperation with Radar Booking in 2001 and takes place at Rockefeller Music Hall. Lineups 2022 The 2022 edition will replace the 2020 edition, cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
