Crazy To Act
''Crazy to Act'' is a 1927 American silent comedy film featuring Oliver Hardy. Plot Ethel St. John was in love with the bland, but poor, Arthur Young. Mrs. St. John, Ethel's mother, preferred, however, the millionaire Gordon Bagley, to be Ethel's husband. Ethel agreed to marry Bagley only if he made her a movie star. From then on, everything went wrong for Mr. Bagley. The film he financed for Ethel was made by inept filmmakers, and the film's hero was no one but his rival, Arthur Young. Earle Rodney
Earle Rodney (4 June 1888 – 16 December 1932) was a Canadian screenwriter, actor, and film director. He wrote for more than 100 films between 1926 and 1947 (posthumous credit). He also acted in 69 films between 1915 and 1929, often paired with Dorothy Devore. He was born in Toronto, and died in Los Angeles, California from pneumonia. Mildred June (December 23, 1905 – June 19, 1940) was an American actress who appeared in silent films. She was also co-writer of a 1927 film. She died at the age of 34 from alcoholism. Life June was born in St. Louis in 1905. She was an American actress appearing in silent films. June starred in Troubles of a Bride in 1924 with Robert Agnew and Alan Hale. and in the similarly themed ''Matrimony Blues'' in 1926 with Lige Conley. The following year she starred in ''The Snarl of Hate'' and she was co-writer of the 1927 film ''Crazy to Act'', in which she and Oliver Hardy starred. Her last part in a film was a small one in ''Our Relations'' which starred Laurel and Hardy in 1936. She died young from alcoholism in Hollywood in 1940 from cirrhosis of the liver. Mack Sennett
Mack Sennett (born Michael Sinnott; January 17, 1880 – November 5, 1960) was a Canadian-American film actor, director, and producer, and studio head, known as the 'King of Comedy'. Born in Danville, Quebec, in 1880, he started in films in the Biograph Company of New York City, and later opened Keystone Studios in Edendale, California in 1912. Keystone possessed the first fully enclosed film stage, and Sennett became famous as the originator of slapstick routines such as pie-throwing and car-chases, as seen in the Keystone Cops films. He also produced short features that displayed his Bathing Beauties, many of whom went on to develop successful acting careers. Sennett's work in sound movies was less successful, and he was bankrupted in 1933. In 1938 he was presented with an honorary Academy Award for his contribution to film comedy. Matty Kemp
Matty Kemp (September 10, 1907 – December 12, 1999) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 50 films between 1926 and 1943. After retiring from acting, Kemp produced many musical short films. In 1954, he contributed the story for the Jane Russell musical film ''The French Line''. A close friend of actor and musician Charles "Buddy" Rogers and his wife Mary Pickford, Kemp was an early manager of the Mary Pickford Foundation.
