Craig Wells
Craig Allan Wells (born 16 July 1970) is an Australian former professional rugby union player. Rugby career A centre, Wells was an Emerging Wallabies player and made the extended Wallabies squad for the 1991 Rugby World Cup, before the list got trimmed. He was recruited by the ACT Brumbies on the back of a strong 1998 Shute Shield season with Northern Suburbs, which he had helped to a rare grand final appearance. In 1999, Wells featured twice for the Brumbies during their Super 12 Super Rugby is a men's professional rugby union club competition involving teams from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. 1991 Rugby World Cup
The 1991 Rugby World Cup was the second edition of the Rugby World Cup, and was jointly hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France: at the time, the five European countries who participated in the Five Nations Championship. This was the first Rugby World Cup to be staged in the northern hemisphere, with England the hosts of the final. Also for the first time, qualifying competitions were introduced as the number of entrants had increased from 16 nations four years before to a total of 33 countries. The eight quarter-finalists from 1987 qualified automatically with the remaining eight spots contested through qualifiers by 25 countries. This resulted in only one new side qualifying for the tournament, Western Samoa replacing Tonga. The same 16-team pool/knock-out format was used with just minor changes to the points system. The ''Illawarra Mercury'' is a daily newspaper serving the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia.
