Cowplain
Cowplain is a village north of Waterlooville, Hampshire, England. With a population of 9,353 at the 2011 census, it makes up above 7% of Havant borough's population. It grew along the old London to Portsmouth road (the A3) on which the village centre and local shops lie. Geography Cowplain is surrounded by remnants of the ancient Forest of Bere: The Queens Inclosure, Padnell Cuts Woods, Idlewood, Hurstwood and Park Woods. The nearest town is Waterlooville and the nearest villages are Lovedean, Rowlands Castle, Denmead and Horndean. A Portsmouth city council housing estate, Wecock Farm (built in the 1970s), is west of Cowplain village. Amenities The village schools are Cowplain Community School, Padnell Infant, Padnell Junior Schools, and Queen's Inclosure Primary School, adjacent to the Queen's Inclosure woods. Cowplain Community School
The Cowplain School (formerly Cowplain Community School, and Cowplain Comprehensive school) is a Mixed-sex education, coeducational secondary school located in Cowplain, Hampshire in the south of England. It has approximately 1060 students and around 60 teaching staff, plus around 35 other staff. History The school was founded in 1930 and takes pupils from villages in the area, including Denmead, Hambledon, Hampshire, Hambledon, Purbrook & Petersfield, Hampshire, Petersfield. It was originally a mixed-school, but later on became a boys' school, as girls went to Crookhorn School. After World War II, the school again included girls, though they were separated from the boys. Waterlooville is a market town in the Borough of Havant in Hampshire, England, approximately north northeast of Portsmouth. It is the largest town in the borough. The town has a population of about 64,350 and is surrounded by Purbrook, Blendworth, Cowplain, Lovedean, Clanfield, Catherington, Crookhorn, Denmead, Hambledon, Horndean and Widley. A3 Road
The A3, known as the Portsmouth Road or London Road in sections, is a major road connecting the City of London and Portsmouth passing close to Kingston upon Thames, Guildford, Haslemere and Petersfield. For much of its length, it is classified as a trunk road and therefore managed by National Highways. Almost all of the road has been built to dual carriageway standards or wider. Horndean
Horndean is a village and civil parish in Hampshire, England, north of Portsmouth. The nearest railway station is southeast of the village at Rowlands Castle. The village had a population of 12,942 at the 2011 Census, and shares the semi-rural character of others in the district. The village was the home of Gales Brewery from 1850. In 2005, it was bought by Fuller, Smith and Turner, who closed it in 2006, when it was converted to shops and flats. History Horndean expanded in the early Middle Ages due to its convenient position as a staging post on the road from Portsmouth to London (now the A3). In 1836 it became home to the Hon. Mark Christopher Wingett (born 1 January 1961) is an English actor. He is best known for his roles as PC/DC Jim Carver in ''The Bill'' and ''EastEnders'' as Mike Swann, ''Hollyoaks'' as Frank Symons and '' Heartbeat'' as Terry Molloy. His first screen role was in the 1967 film ''To Sir, with Love'' as a school pupil. Acting career Wingett was born in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
