Covenant Network
The Covenant Network is a network of Catholic radio stations in the Midwestern United States. Covenant maintains 15 full-power radio stations and a further 25 dependent translators in Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. The Covenant Network maintains studios in St. Louis, Missouri, where it owns two AM stations feeding three FM translators. Covenant stations carry EWTN Radio programming as well as network productions and other Catholic radio shows. History Covenant was the brainchild of Tony and Teresa Holman, who met in St. Louis and felt a calling to share their faith. After looking for stations to buy, Covenant Network began broadcasting May 1, 1997, on WRYT, licensed to Edwardsville, Illinois. WHOJ (91.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian radio format. Licensed to Terre Haute, Indiana, United States, the station serves the Terre Haute area. The station is currently owned by Covenant Network. History The station began broadcasting in 1997, and held the call sign WAPC. It was owned by American Family Association and was an affiliate of American Family Radio. WCKW
WCKW (1010 AM) is an American radio station licensed to serve the community of Garyville, Louisiana, United States. The station is owned by Covenant Network. Programming WCKW broadcasts a Catholic radio format to the greater New Orleans area, most notably the River Parishes of St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, and St. James. History The station signed on in December 1970 as country music outlet WKQT, the sister station of WCKW-FM. These stations were founded by Sidney Joseph Levet III, a New Orleans native and an electronic engineer. In February 1990, Levet was named Broadcaster of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. (Levet died in 1997.) Radio Network
There are two types of radio network currently in use around the world: the one-to-many (simplex communication) broadcast network commonly used for public information and mass-media entertainment, and the two-way radio ( duplex communication) type used more commonly for public safety and public services such as police, fire, taxicabs, and delivery services.
