Noise Rock
Noise rock (sometimes called noise punk) is a noise music, noise-oriented style of experimental rock that spun off from punk rock in the 1980s. Drawing on movements such as minimal music, minimalism, industrial music, and New York hardcore, artists indulge in extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars and, less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement. Some groups are tied to song structures, such as Sonic Youth. Although they are not representative of the entire genre, they helped popularize noise rock among alternative rock audiences by incorporating melodies into their droning textures of sound, which set a template that numerous other groups followed. Other early noise rock bands were Big Black and Swans (band), Swans. Characteristics Noise rock fuses Rock music, rock to noise, usually with recognizable "rock" instrumentation, but with greater use of distortion and elect ...

Radio Personalities From Melbourne
Radio is the technology of signaling and communicating using radio waves. Radio waves are electromagnetic waves of frequency between 30 hertz (Hz) and 300 gigahertz (GHz). They are generated by an electronic device called a transmitter connected to an antenna which radiates the waves, and received by another antenna connected to a radio receiver. Radio is very widely used in modern technology, in radio communication, radar, radio navigation, remote control, remote sensing, and other applications. In radio communication, used in radio and television broadcasting, cell phones, two-way radios, wireless networking, and satellite communication, among numerous other uses, radio waves are used to carry information across space from a transmitter to a receiver, by modulating the radio signal (impressing an information signal on the radio wave by varying some aspect of the wave) in the transmitter. In radar, used to locate and track objects like aircraft, ships, spacecraft an ...

Blah Blah Blah (TV Series)
''Blah Blah Blah'' was a 1988 comedy television show starring Andrew Denton, broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The show is most notable for the fact that it began the television careers of many Australian performers including Anthony Ackroyd, Flacco and Roy & HG. With its late night time slot, it was able to get away with a lot more adult humour and content than many other shows of the era. Regular segments included ''In Bed Tonight with James Scanlon,'' and a performance by a rock band''.'' A running joke at the beginning of the series was that Denton was the "work experience kid" filling in while they were waiting for the real star of the show to arrive, à la Waiting for Godot. In contrast to the Godot play, he finally does arrive, five minutes from the end of the final episode. The show also featured some controversial live performances: Ignatius Jones, former lead singer of Jimmy And The Boys, performed live in a suit made entirely from cuts of meat; an ...

Lubricated Goat
Lubricated Goat are an Australian noise rock band which originally formed in 1986 by multi-instrumentalist Stu Spasm. They achieved brief notoriety in November 1988 for appearing nude on the ABC TV program ''Blah Blah Blah'', wearing only their instruments and shoes. Mainly influenced by the Stooges and the Birthday Party, they are credited for playing a grimy, confrontational style of rock, which preceded grunge. They have issued five studio albums, ''Plays the Devil's Music'' (1987), ''Paddock of Love'' (1988), '' Psychedelicatessen'' (1990), '' Forces You Don't Understand'' (1994) and '' The Great Old Ones'' (2003). In The Raw (film)
''In the Raw'' is a 2009 documentary film about Lubricated Goat's nude appearance on Australian TV. In November 1988, Andrew Denton's '' Blah Blah Blah'' program caused a nationwide stir by allowing guitar group Lubricated Goat to perform on Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV completely naked. The resulting media frenzy jammed phone lines as the public debated this supposed decline in Australian media standards. ''In The Raw'' dispels myths which have arisen as a result of Lubricated Goat's nude appearance by exposing the politics, censorship, and nudity of this event through extensive interviews with the members of the band, ABC Management, and the ''Blah Blah Blah'' production team. The project was directed by Cousin Creep and made for Happening Films of Melbourne Melbourne ( ; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm'' or ''Naarm'') is the capital and most populous city of the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-most populous city in both Australia and Ocean ...

3RRR
3RRR (pronounced "Three Triple R", or simply "Triple R") is an Australian community radio station, based in Melbourne. 3RRR first commenced broadcasting in 1976 from the studios of 3ST, the student radio station of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (now RMIT University), on an educational licence with the name 3RMT. In 1979 it relocated to Fitzroy, and adopted its present name. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, it became synonymous with the post punk and new wave subcultures. In late 2004, supporters raised enough money for the station to purchase and move into new premises on the corner of Blyth and Nicholson Streets in Brunswick East after the 20-year lease on their previous studios, in Victoria St, Fitzroy, expired. 3RRR's mission statement was defined in 1990 as "To educate, inform and entertain by drawing upon appropriate community resources. To develop a critical approach to contemporary culture." Triple R's programming is split roughly 70% specialist m ...
