Courtland High School
Courtland High School is a public high school located in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Founded in 1980, Courtland currently has 1,174 students (2021-2022 school year). History Courtland High School was founded in 1980 as Spotsylvania County's second public high school, after Spotsylvania High School. Courtland High school got a new renovation in 2019, this renovation included renewing the office to look more modern and replacing the football field to a new blue field. The renovation also updated the stairwells to improve the look. Academics The school has good academics in terms of preparing students for advanced education. They have a 96% graduation rate and 39% of students participate in AP courses. As for students who go onto have higher education 63% of graduates pursue college or a technical degree. Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia
Spotsylvania Courthouse is a census-designated place (CDP) and the county seat of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, located 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Fredericksburg. Recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census designated place (CDP), the population was 4,239 at the 2010 census. During the American Civil War, the crossroads community became a Union objective during the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, fought May 8–21, 1864. The battle, which ended in stalemate, included a brutal 20-hour struggle over a section of the Confederate defenses that became known as the "Bloody Angle". The site of the Bloody Angle and other portions of the battlefield are preserved as part of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields Memorial National Military Park and administered by the National Park Service. Spotsylvania County Public Schools is a public school district serving Spotsylvania County, Virginia. It consists of 17 Elementary, 7 Middle, and 5 High Schools and has a total enrollment of nearly 24,000 students. Spotsylvania County is a county in the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the July 2021 estimate, the population was 143,676. Its county seat is Spotsylvania Courthouse. History At the time of European encounter, the inhabitants of the area that became Spotsylvania County were a Siouan-speaking tribe called the Manahoac. As the colonial population increased, Spotsylvania County was established in 1721 from parts of Essex, King and Queen, and King William counties. Spotsylvania High School
Spotsylvania High School is a public high school in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. It serves the southern half of the county. The Knights are the least densely populated of the schools in the division. SHS houses the only International Baccalaureate programme in the division, as well as being one of two sites for the Commonwealth Governor's School, both of these centers are made up of students accepted into the program who come from SHS as well as other high schools in Spotsylvania County, SHS also works in partnership with Germanna Community College to offer the Gladys P. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals.
