Courtaulds Greenfield Football Club was a Welsh football team based in Greenfield, Flintshire, North Wales. The team played in the Welsh National League (North) for two seasons in the early 1980s which was the top-level of football in North Wales in the Welsh football league system. They were league champions in 1981–82. History Courtaulds Greenfield were a factory team for Courtaulds. The team played in the inaugural season of the Clwyd Football League in 1974–75 along with another team representing the factory in Flint, ''Courtaulds Flint''. The team reached a Welsh Cup quarter final where they lost to Hereford United. Greenfield, Flintshire
Greenfield ( cy, Maes-glas) is a village in the community of Holywell, Flintshire, north-east Wales, on the edge of the River Dee estuary. At the time of the 2001 census it had a population of 2,741, which remained unchanged in the 2011 census. The Welsh language name of the village, ''Maes-glas'' or ''Maesglas'', has the same meaning as "Greenfield".Davies, E. The North Wales Coast FA Intermediate Cup is a football knockout tournament involving teams from in North Wales who play in leagues administered and associated with the North Wales Coast Football Association. Previous winners The competition was originally known as the ''North Wales Coast Amateur Cup'' ran from 1894 to 1975 with the exception of when the competition was suspended during the war years. For the 1975–76 season it was renamed the ''North Wales Coast FA Intermediate Cup'' running until the end of the 1980–81 season. The competition did not run from 1981 until the 2008–09 season when it was reintroduced. It ran again until the 2015–16 season, after which it was suspended again. Flint ( cy, Y Fflint) is a town and community in Flintshire, Wales, lying on the estuary of the River Dee. It is the former county town of Flintshire. According to the 2001 Census, the population of the community of Flint was 12,804, increasing to 12,953 at the 2011 census. The urban area including Holywell and Bagillt had a population of 26,442. Geography Flint is located in north-east Wales, adjoining the estuary of the River Dee, to the north of the town of Mold. The Clwyd Football League was a football league formed in 1974 as an amalgamation of the Dyserth League and the Halkyn Mountain League. The top division was at different periods at the second, third and fourth levels of the Welsh football league system in North Wales. Courtaulds was a United Kingdom-based manufacturer of fabric, clothing, artificial fibres, and chemicals. It was established in 1794 and became the world's leading man-made fibre production company before being broken up in 1990 into Courtaulds plc and Courtaulds Textiles Ltd.
