Court is the name of an electoral ward in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is represented by councillors on Barry Town Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Description The Court ward covers the south of the Gibbonsdown area of the town, northeast of Barry town centre, but stretches south as far as Holton Road. There is a Gibbonsdown ward which borders to the northwest. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 4,748. Town Council elections The Court ward elects three councillors to Barry Town Council. In May 2017 the ward's Labour Party councillor Bronwen Brooks became leader of Barry Town Council. Ward councillor Richard Bertin was the only Independent councillor elected to the council. Castleland is an electoral ward in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It elects two county councillors to the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Description The Castleland ward covered an area of Barry southeast of the town centre including a large part of Barry Docks. Two county councillors were elected from the ward to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and two town councillors to Barry Town Council. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 4,852. In 2009 the ward was designated as a renewal zone, earmarked for improvements to housing and public spaces. Cadoc is an electoral ward in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It elects four county councillors to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and three town councillors to Barry Town Council. 2017 Vale Of Glamorgan Council Election
The 2017 Vale of Glamorgan Council election took place on Thursday 4 May 2017 to elect members of Vale of Glamorgan Council in Wales. There were 47 council seats available, across 23 wards. This was the same day as other United Kingdom local elections. The previous full council election took place on 3 May 2012, with the next full council election due to take place on 5 May 2022. Election result In winning 23 seats the Conservatives had a surprising resurgence, taking back the council from the previous coalition of Labour councillors and Llantwit First Independents. Gibbonsdown, colloquially known as 'Gibby', is a residential area and electoral ward situated in the north east of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales.
