Courland (Saeima Constituency)
Courland ( lv, Kurzeme; russian: Курземе) is one of the five multi-member constituencies of the Saeima, the national legislature of Latvia. The constituency was established in 1922 when the Saeima was established following Latvia's independence from the Soviet Union. It consists of the cities of Liepāja and Ventspils and municipalities of Kuldīga, Saldus, South Kurzeme, Talsi and Ventspils in the region of Courland. The constituency currently elects 12 of the 100 members of the Saeima using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system. At the 2022 parliamentary election it had 180,070 registered electors. Saeima
The Saeima () is the parliament of the Latvia, Republic of Latvia. It is a unicameral parliament consisting of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation, with seats allocated to political parties which gain at least 5% of the popular vote. Elections are scheduled to be held once every four years, normally on the first Saturday of October. The most recent elections were held in 2022 Latvian parliamentary election, October 2022. The President of Latvia can dismiss the Saeima and request early elections. National Alliance (Latvia)
The National Alliance ( lv, Nacionālā apvienība, NA), officially the National Alliance "All for Latvia!" – "For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK" (), is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Latvia. A right-wing party, it has also been placed as the far right, or radical right, of the political spectrum. It is economic liberal. It was formed as an electoral alliance for the 2010 Latvian parliamentary election between the For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK and All for Latvia! parties. The Progressives (Latvia)
The Progressives ( lv, Progresīvie, ) is a social-democratic and progressive political party in Latvia. The party was founded on 25 February 2017. Latvia First ( lv, Latvija pirmajā vietā, LPV) is a right-wing populist political party in Latvia. Ramona Petraviča (born 25 September 1967 in Auce) is a Latvian politician and financier, who is a member of the Saeima and who between 23 January 2019 and 3 June 2021 served as in the Kariņš cabinet led by Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. Biography Petraviča graduated from Riga Technical University with a degree in chemical technology in 1992. United List (Latvia)
The United List ( lv, Apvienotais saraksts; AS) is a centrist and regionalist political alliance in Latvia established to contest the 2022 parliamentary election. The list consists of the Latvian Green Party, the Latvian Association of Regions, the Liepāja Party, as well as the "United List of Latvia" () association led by Liepāja construction contractor Uldis Pīlēns. The list was founded on 1 July 2022.
