County Road 230A (Bradford County, Florida)
State Road 230 (SR 230) is a short state highway in northeastern Florida that runs between Starke, Florida and Camp Blanding. It runs east and west and is always no more than two lanes wide. Within the Starke city limits, and slightly beyond, the road is known as Call Street. Route description State Road 230 begins in front of the Old Bradford County Courthouse which is at the northeast corner of US 301, one block north of SR 100. West of this intersection, West Call Street is a city street, and both sides of the intersection are restricted to right turns on US 301. This part of the road also runs through the Call Street Historic District, and a pair of CSX Transportation railroad lines that once carried Amtrak's Palmetto runs between Thompson and Cherry Streets. The ''Palmetto'' is a passenger train operated by Amtrak on a route between New York City and Savannah, Georgia, via the Northeast Corridor, Washington, D.C., Richmond, Virginia, Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina. The ''Palmetto'' is a shorter version of the ''Silver Meteor'', which continues south to Miami, Florida. Between 1996 and 2002 this service was called the ''Silver Palm''. The State Highway System of the U.S. state of Florida comprises the roads maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) or a toll authority. The components are referred to officially as state roads, abbreviated as SR. History Prior to the 1945 renumbering, State Roads were given numbers in the order they were added to the system. The 1945 renumbering removed many roads that were never built and added some that had not existed prior to 1945. State Road 200 (SR 200) is a major diagonal road in central and northeast Florida. Its southern terminus is at US 41 ( SR 45) in Hernando (Citrus County). Its northern terminus is at SR A1A in Fernandina Beach ( Nassau County), at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Fletcher Avenue. Route description SR 200 is signed from Hernando through Apache Shores and Stokes Ferry in Citrus County, passing a narrow bridge over the Withlacoochee River. Entering Marion County, it passes by the Ross Prairie State Forest and continues through Marion Oaks to Ocala, where it later becomes an unsigned route for US 301 north to Callahan. Florida State Road 16
State Road 16 (SR 16) runs from northwest to southeast between Raiford and St. Augustine. It passes through the towns of Starke and Green Cove Springs in addition to providing access to Camp Blanding. Major roads and/or highways that SR 16 crosses include: US 301, SR 21, US 17, SR 13, Interstate 95 and US 1. Starke is a city in and the county seat of Bradford County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,796 at the 2020 census. The origin of the city's name is disputed. Starke may have been named in honor of local landowner George W. Cole's fiancée's family or in honor of Madison Starke Perry, fourth governor of Florida. History Founding and 19th century Prior to 1857, the area that is today Starke was sparsely settled. The announcement of the Fernandina to Cedar Key railroad, which would connect the Atlantic Ocean with the Gulf of Mexico, brought the first known settlement to the community.
