Couch Potatoes (game Show)
''Couch Potatoes'' is an American game show which featured two teams competing in a television-centric quiz game. The program premiered in syndication on January 23, 1989. It aired in first-run until June 9, 1989, for a total of one hundred episodes, and reruns aired after that until September 8, 1989. ''Couch Potatoes'' was hosted by Marc Summers, who at the time was also hosting the children's game show '' Double Dare'' on both Nickelodeon and local stations. Comedian and voice actor Joe Alaskey was also featured on the show, serving as its announcer and also playing an on-camera role as Summers' next door neighbor. After Alaskey left the series toward the end of its run, his character was retired and Jim McKrell took over his announcer role (albeit off camera). Marc Summers
Marc Summers (born Marc Berkowitz; November 11, 1951) is an American television personality, comedian, game show host, producer, and talk show host. He is best known for hosting '' Double Dare'' for Nickelodeon, and ''Unwrapped'' for Food Network; he was the executive producer for both '' Dinner: Impossible'' and '' Restaurant: Impossible'' also for Food Network. Early career Summers was born Marc Berkowitz in Indianapolis, Indiana, to a Jewish family. Carl Patrick O'Brien (born July 14, 1946), better known by his nickname Cubby, is an American drummer and former child actor. He is known as one of the original Mouseketeers on the weekday ABC television program ''The Mickey Mouse Club'' from 1955 to 1958. Early life O'Brien was the third son of musician Haskell "Hack" O'Brien, a well-known drummer for several big band era ensembles. Gary Owens (born Gary Bernard Altman; May 10, 1934 – February 12, 2015) was an American radio announcer, personality, disc jockey and voice actor. His polished baritone speaking voice generally offered deadpan recitations of total nonsense, which he frequently demonstrated as the announcer on ''Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In''. Owens was equally proficient in straight or silly assignments and was frequently heard on television and radio as well as in commercials. He was known to listeners in the San Francisco and Los Angeles radio markets with stints at several stations in both markets, racking up over 45 years on the air.
