Charles Henry Gilbert (December 5, 1859 in Rockford, Illinois – April 20, 1928 in Palo Alto, California) was a pioneer ichthyologist and Fisheries science, fishery biologist of particular significance to natural history of the western United States. He collected and studied fishes from Central America north to Alaska and described many new species. Later he became an expert on Pacific salmon and was a noted conservation movement, conservationist of the Pacific Northwest. He is considered by many as the intellectual founder of American fisheries biology. He was one of the 22 "pioneer professors" (founding faculty) of Stanford University. Klamath River

Pit River
The Pit River is a major river draining from northeastern California into the state's Central Valley. The Pit, the Klamath and the Columbia are the only three rivers in the U.S. that cross the Cascade Range. The longest tributary of the Sacramento River, it contributes as much as eighty percent of their combined water volume into the Shasta Lake reservoir; the junction of their Shasta Lake arms is northeast of Shasta Dam. Fall River (Shasta County, California)
The Fall River is a river tributary to the Pit River in north-eastern Shasta County in northern California. It is a designated Heritage and Wild Trout stream. History The river was named Fall River by John Frémont in 1848 because of its historic cascades and falls at the terminus of the river. Ecology and conservation The Fall River Conservancy and the Fall River Resource Conservation District both work to restore the river.
