Cottbus – Spree-Neiße
Cottbus – Spree-Neiße is an electoral constituency (German language, German: ''Wahlkreis'') represented in the Bundestag. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 64. It is located in southeastern Brandenburg, comprising the independent city of Cottbus and the district of Spree-Neiße. Cottbus – Spree-Neiße was created for the inaugural 1990 German federal election, 1990 federal election after German reunification. 2013 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held on 22 September to elect the members of the 18th Bundestag of Germany. At stake were all 598 seats to the Bundestag, plus 33 overhang seats determined thereafter. The Christian Democratic Union of Germany/ Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CDU/CSU) of incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel won their best result since 1990 with nearly 42% of the vote and nearly 50% of the seats, just five short for an overall majority. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) failed to meet the 5% vote electoral threshold in what was their worst showing ever in a federal election, denying them seats in the Bundestag for the first time in their history. Ulrich Freese (born 12 April 1951) is a German politician. Born in Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia, he represents the SPD. Steffen Reiche (born 27 June 1960) is a German politician, a representative of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Biography Private life Reiche was born in Potsdam.
