Costa Rica–Russia Relations
The Soviet Union established diplomatic relations with Costa Rica on May 8, 1944, and Russia continues these relations as the successor state of the Soviet Union. Each of the two countries has an embassy in the other's capital city, Moscow and San José. Present Both countries are members of the United Nations, and since May 2019, holders of a Russian passport don't need a visa to visit Costa Rica. Russians can stay in Costa Rica for a maximum of 90 days entering the country for tourism. Holders of a Costa Rican passport don't need a visa to Russia and a tourism stay of 90 days is allowed. Successor State
Succession of states is a concept in international relations regarding a successor state that has become a sovereign state over a territory (and populace) that was previously under the sovereignty of another state. Russian Passport
The Russian passport (russian: Заграничный паспорт гражданина Российской Федерации, Zagranichnyy pasport grazhdanina Rossiyskoy Federatsii, Transborder passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation) is a booklet issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to Russian citizens for international travel. Costa Rican Passport
A Costa Rican passport ( es, pasaporte costarricence) is an identity document issued to Costa Rican citizens to travel outside Costa Rica. Currently, it is valid for 6 years (10 years before 2006). It is issued to people born on Costa Rican soil (who are citizens by default), and to children of Costa Rican citizens born abroad, who are reported to the nearest Costa Rican consulate (whose birth, immediately after such report, is recorded in the civil registry).
