Menudo is a Puerto Rican boy band that was formed in Puerto Rico by producer Edgardo Díaz. Referred to as the "Most Iconic Latino Pop Music Band", Menudo has been ranked as one of the Biggest Boy Bands of All Time by several publications, including '' Billboard'', ''Us Weekly'', '' Seventeen'', and '' Teen Vogue'', being the only Latin band on their lists. The band had several radio hits during its course. Mickey Garcia (born October 21, 1961) is an American record executive, songwriter, music producer, and DJ. He is known for founding the record label MicMac Records and for his work as a Mastermix DJ on 98.7 Kiss FM. MDO is a Latin American pop/rock band, spun off in 1997 from the Latin American boy band once known as Menudo. The group's first line-up reunited for an international tour in 2015. Band history In the mid-1990s, Edgardo Diaz, Menudo's creator and director, sold the rights for the trademarked name Menudo to a Panamanian company. After the release and promotion of Menudo's album ''Tiempo De Amar'' in 1996, the remaining line-up formed MDO under the direction and production of Diaz at first. José Ricardo "Ricky" López Jiménez is a singer and former member of the well known boy band, Menudo. Singing career Ricky López was discovered musically at age 13, when he was chosen to become a member of Menudo. Edgardo Diaz chose to nickname him "Ricky III", because of Ricky Meléndez and Ricky Martin's earlier stints in the group.
