Cory Quirk
Cory Quirk (born July 3, 1986) is an American professional ice hockey player. He currently plays for the Fischtown Pinguins in the German DEL. Career Quirk played for the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL where he was named Rookie of the Year and received an award for his community service. He also graduated from Catholic Memorial High School (Boston, Mass.) where his team won state championship three of his four years. He attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he majored in psychology, from 2005 to 2009, serving as team co-captain his senior year. He left UMass as the program's all-time leader in games played (150) and became the eighth player in UMass history to score at least 100 points, ranking him sixth all-time. Coming out of college in March 2009, Quirk penned an amateur tryout contract with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Brockton, Massachusetts
Brockton is a city in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, United States; the population is 105,643 as of the 2020 United States Census. Along with Plymouth, it is one of the two county seats of Plymouth County. The Waterloo Black Hawks are a Tier I junior ice hockey team playing in the Western Conference of the United States Hockey League (USHL) under president and general manager P.K. O'Handley. The Black Hawks' home ice is the Young Arena in Waterloo, Iowa. SønderjyskE is a Danish sport corporation. They have a football team (SønderjyskE Fodbold, based in Haderslev), two handball teams (SønderjyskE Håndbold, one male based in Sønderborg, one female based in Aabenraa) and an ice hockey team (SønderjyskE Ishockey, based in Vojens). All the teams play in Southern Jutland. The name is short for Sønderjysk Elitesport (English language: ''Southern Jutlandic Elite Sport''). The Champions Hockey League is a European first-level ice hockey tournament. Launched in the 2014–15 season by 26 clubs, 6 leagues and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the tournament features top teams across Europe. Background The IIHF launched a tournament with the same name in 2008 to coincide with the IIHF's 100th anniversary. The tournament's only season was played between 8 October 2008 and 28 January 2009, and was won by the ZSC Lions who got to play in the 2009 Victoria Cup game as a result. The IIHF planned to launch another season but was ultimately forced to cancel the tournament due to problems finding sponsors during the concurrent global economic crisis and failure to agree on a tournament format.
