Mapita Cortés (August 4, 1939 – January 1, 2006 born Maria del Pilar Mercado Cordero in 1939 in the Santurce barrio of San Juan, Puerto Rico – died in Mexico City), was a Puerto Rican actress of telenovelas and the cinema of Mexico. She is the mother of Mexican actor Luis Gatica, the wife of Lucho Gatica, the niece of Puerto Rican actress Mapy Cortés, and the niece in law of Mexican actor Fernando Cortés. Santiago Cortés is a Latino-Swiss musician and composer. He has been producing music for TV and film, and doing regular DJ dance music gigs in the US, South America, Italy, Spain and Asia, since 1991. During 1997–2000, Cortés completed his education as a sound engineer and founded his own SMP label in 2005. In producing his debut album, ''Welcome to My Airline'', released in September 2005, he collaborated with musicians, engineers and producers in Europe and abroad, such as the lead singer Sonnie "Skip" Martin ( Grammy winner, New York) from Kool & the Gang and "Tony Martinez and the Cuban Power" (two time Grammy nominee, New York). Ramiro Cortés Jr. (25 November 1933 – 2 July 1984) was an American composer. Cortés was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1933 to Ramiro Cortés, Sr. and Elvira Cortés (née Acosta). He studied with Henry Cowell, Richard Donovan, Ingolf Dahl, Vittorio Giannini, Roger Sessions, Halsey Stevens, and, in Rome on a Fulbright Fellowship, with Goffredo Petrassi. He worked for a brief period in the 1960s as a computer programmer, and then taught composition at the University of California, Los Angeles (1966–67), University of Southern California (1967–72), and the University of Utah (1972–84). Edmundo Villani-Côrtes (born 8 November 1930) is a Brazilian pianist, conductor, arranger, music professor and composer. Biography Villani-Côrtes was born in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. He started out as a musician at age 9 by playing the cavaquinho, acoustic guitar and piano. He graduated from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro in 1954.
