Corruption In Moldova
The government in Moldova has in recent years taken several steps to fight corruption, including law enforcement and institutional setups. The prosecution of officials who are involved in corruption has also increased in recent years. However, businesses consider corruption a serious problem for doing business, and the business environment continues to be one of the most challenging in the region. According to Transparency International, 37% of Moldovans report paying a bribe in 2010. One of the most perceived corrupt institutions is the police. A large anti-corruption protest was held in Chișinău in September 2015 following a $1 billion (£655 million) bank fraud. On 19 April 2021, the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021–2024 was signed in Strasbourg, France. Flag Of Moldova
The national flag of the Republic of Moldova ( ro, Drapelul Moldovei) is a vertical triband of blue, yellow, and red, charged with the coat of arms of Moldova (an eagle holding a shield charged with an aurochs) on the centre bar. The reverse is mirrored. The flag ratio is 1:2. Until further provisions, the State Flag of Moldova is used as the national flag and ensign as well; that is, civil, state and war flag and ensign. The blue-yellow-red tricolour of Moldova is inspired by the flag of Romania, reflecting the two countries' national and cultural affinity. Moldova ( , ; ), officially the Republic of Moldova ( ro, Republica Moldova), is a Landlocked country, landlocked country in Eastern Europe. Transparency International e.V. (TI) is a German registered association founded in 1993 by former employees of the World Bank. Bribery is the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of any item of value to influence the actions of an official, or other person, in charge of a public or legal duty. The Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2021–2024 ( ro, Planul de Acțiuni al Consiliului Europei pentru Republica Moldova 2021–2024) is a strategic initiative of the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Moldovan authorities with the aim of improving the legislation and state institutions of Moldova and applying reforms on the issues of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the country in accordance with common European practices, such as the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights. It was signed in Strasbourg, France, on 19 April 2021 in the presence of the President of Moldova Maia Sandu and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) is an index which ranks countries "by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, as determined by expert assessments and opinion surveys." The CPI generally defines corruption as an "abuse of entrusted power for private gain".CPI 2010: Long methodological brief, p. 2 The index is published annually by the non-governmental organisation Transparency International since 1995.
