Corruption In Mauritius
Corruption in Mauritius follows the familiar patterns of state-based corruption, namely government officials abusing their political powers for private gain in the country of Mauritius. Some Mauritians have taken advantage of the government's corruption. In the local dialect, those who adopt such means are called ''traceurs'' or ''magouilleurs''. Familiar methods include falsifying home addresses to get a child into a perceived “star school” or bribing officials to obtain a driver's license. Since 1979 the need for an independent body to fight corruption was identified. Cables leaked from the US embassy described corruption in Mauritius as "pervasive and ingrained". Flag Of Mauritius
The national flag of Mauritius, also known as the Four Bands and ''Les Quatre Bandes'' ( French for "the four bands"), was adopted upon independence, March 12, 1968. It consists of four horizontal bands of equal width, coloured (from top to bottom) red, blue, yellow, and green. The flag was recorded at the College of Arms in London on 9 January 1968. The flag was designed by Gurudutt Moher whose contribution was recognised posthumously in March 2018 in the form of the national title ''Member of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean'' (MSK). Navinchandra Ramgoolam, GCSK, FRCP (born 14 July 1947) is a Mauritian politician who was former Prime Minister of Mauritius from 2005 to 2014 and leader of the Labour Party (Mauritius). Constituencies of Mauritius are the electoral boundaries within the Republic of Mauritius. They are also commonly referred to as ''Circonscriptions'' amongst the locals. The country follows the Westminster system and elects 60 members of parliament for a term of 5 years.
