Corner Brook Transit
Corner Brook Transit is a provider of public transportation to the residents of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Municipally managed, the service is provided under contract by Murphy Brothers Bus Lines. There are two routes that run from 7am to 6pm Mon-Fri with destinations including Murphy Square and the downtown area. In response to declining ridership, a pilot project is set to be initiated to reformulated the routes. The transit agency has instituted a NextBus realtime transit location system, which will provide data to internet and cell phone users on vehicle ETAs. The fleet consists of three gasoline fueled Ford E-Series Cutaway buses. Two of the old diesel buses have been kept as back-ups. Corner Brook
Corner Brook ( 2021 population: 19,333 CA 29,762) is a city located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Corner Brook is the fifth largest settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador. Located on the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the Humber River, the city is the second-largest population centre in the province behind St. John's, and smallest of three cities behind St. John's and Mount Pearl. As such, Corner Brook functions as a service centre for western and northern Newfoundland. It is located on the same latitude as Gaspé, Quebec, a city of similar size and landscape on the other side of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Corner Brook is the most northern city in Atlantic Canada. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. NextBus is a public transit vehicle tracking system which uses global positioning satellite information to predict when the next vehicle will arrive at any given transit stop, which attempts to reduce wait times and reliance on schedules. NextBus is developed by Nextbus Information Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Cubic Transportation Systems, for buses, trams, light rail operations and other public transport vehicles. The Ford E-Series (also known as the Ford Econoline or Ford Club Wagon) is a range of full-size vans manufactured and marketed by the Ford Motor Company. Curling, Newfoundland And Labrador
Curling is a mainly residential neighbourhood of the city of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is situated just west of the main part of the city. Located in the Humber Arm of the Bay of Islands, Curling was originally a fishing community. It is the oldest section of Corner Brook. History James Cook, the famous British cartographer and explorer, was the first to survey and record the geography of the Bay of Islands. Throughout the summer of 1767, he surveyed most of the area.
