Cornelis Pama
Cornelis Pama (1916 - 1994) was a Dutch bookseller, publisher, heraldist and genealogist, who spent the second half of his life in South Africa. He was born in Rotterdam. During World War II, when the Netherlands were under German occupation, he was conscripted for forced labour in Germany.Laing, R.A. (2000). Brackenfell
Brackenfell is a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa at the gateway to the Cape Winelands. Organisationally and administratively it is included in the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality as a Northern Suburb and is about 30 kilometres (19 mi) east of Cape Town City Bowl. In Brackenfell a variety of property situated on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills can be found. The Bracken Nature Reserve, situated in the Ruwari suburban area, was once a quarry site and was later declared a nature reserve after some negotiations between the Cape Town City Council and the Stellenbosch Divisional Council. Heraldry Society Of Southern Africa
The Heraldry Society of Southern Africa (HSSA) was founded in Cape Town on 27 August 1953. It has not been active since 2007, but as it has not been wound up it is, in effect, in suspense. Activities The HSSA's main activity was regular meetings and lectures. In its early years, the HSSA also took an active role in promoting good heraldic practice in South Africa, as there was no official heraldry authority in the country at that time, the HSSA provided a design and advice service, with particular emphasis on municipal arms. The HSSA also acted as unofficial liaison with the College of Arms in London, through the then Chester Herald, who was an HSSA member. The HSSA staged the first heraldry exhibition in South Africa, "Heraldry at the Cape", in 1956. Publications The HSSA published a regular ''Newsletter'' from 1953 to 1958. Malmesbury, Western Cape
Malmesbury is a town of approximately 36,000 inhabitants in the Western Cape province of South Africa, about 65 km north of Cape Town. The town is the largest in the Swartland (‘black land’) which took its name from the Renosterbos ('rhino bush'), an indigenous plant that turns black in the warm, dry summers. The area is especially known for its grain and wine cultivation as well as sheep and poultry farming. Malmesbury was named after Sir Lowry Cole's father-in-law, the Earl of Malmesbury. Settlers were encouraged to make their homes here because of a tepid sulphur chloride mineral spring that was renowned for curing rheumatism. The first farms were allocated in 1703. When the fifth Dutch Reformed congregation in the Cape was established here, it became known as Zwartlands-kerk (Swartland Church) but was renamed Malmesbury in 1829. Clanwilliam, Western Cape
Clanwilliam is a town in the Olifants River valley in the Western Cape, South Africa, about north of Cape Town. It is located in, and the seat of, the Cederberg Local Municipality. Clanwilliam had a population of 7,674. Geography John Cradock, the Governor of the Cape Colony (1811–1814), named the town after his father-in-law, The 1st Earl of Clanwilliam, an Anglo-Irish nobleman. Clanwilliam is situated at an elevation of , between the western slopes of the Cederberg mountains and the east bank of the Olifants River, which is impounded there by the Clanwilliam Dam.
