Copernicus Airport Wrocław
Copernicus Airport Wrocław ( pl, Port Lotniczy Wrocław im. Mikołaja Kopernika, Port lotniczy Wrocław- Strachowice) is an international civil-military airport in Wrocław in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in southwestern Poland. It is Poland’s 5th busiest airport. The airport is located southwest of the city centre, at Graniczna street 190. It has one runway, one passenger terminal, one cargo terminal and one general aviation terminal. Wrocław airport is also often used by Polish Air Force, US Air Force, NATO air force and Heavy Airlift Wing. History Early years The airport was built in 1938 as ''Flugplatz Breslau-Schöngarten'' Airport for German military purposes before World War II, when the city was still part of Germany. Buzz (Ryanair)
Buzz is a Polish airline headquartered in Warsaw. Formerly called Ryanair Sun, it is a subsidiary of the Irish airline company Ryanair Holdings and a sister airline to Ryanair, Ryanair UK, Malta Air and Lauda Europe. Formed in 2017 and initially positioned as a charter airline without any scheduled services, Buzz operates scheduled flights on behalf of Ryanair, and charter flights in its own right, out of Poland. Civilian
Civilians under international humanitarian law are "persons who are not members of the armed forces" and they are not "combatants if they carry arms openly and respect the laws and customs of war". ''Kampfgeschwader 76'' (KG 76) (Battle Wing) was a Luftwaffe bomber Group during World War II. It was one of the few bomber groups that operated throughout the war. In 1933 Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power in Germany. To meet the expansionist aims of their ''Führer'', the German state began an enormous rearmament programme to build the ''Wehrmacht'' (German armed forces). 76 was created in May 1939 as the Luftwaffe sought to reorganise and increase its strength. Sturzkampfgeschwader 77
''Sturzkampfgeschwader'' 77 (StG 77) was a Luftwaffe dive bomber wing during World War II. From the outbreak of war StG 77 distinguished itself in every Wehrmacht major operation until the Battle of Stalingrad in 1942. If the claims made by StG 77 are accurate, it inflicted more damage to enemy ground forces than any other wing. It operated the Junkers Ju 87 dive-bomber exclusively in the combat role. The Dornier Do 17 and Messerschmitt Bf 110 were both used in the air reconnaissance role. The ''Luftwaffe'' () was the aerial-warfare branch of the German ''Wehrmacht'' before and during World War II. Heavy Airlift Wing
The Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) is an international military airlift organization based at Pápa Air Base, Hungary. The organization consists of several European states and the United States. It was officially activated on 27 July 2009 as part of the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) program, which purchased and operates three C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft that fly under the national markings of Hungary.
